I should add a great many number of those picking Cotto have him winning by knockout in the mid to late rounds. Here are some examples: “Cotto, I believe, is just about the best fighter in the world right now, and while Margarito punches hard enough to always be a threat, I think Cotto will find him quite easy to hit. Cotto by sixth-round stoppage.” - Ron Lewis, The Times (UK) “Glad to see Margarito, ducked and ignored so long, get this opportunity. But I think Cotto will show his greatness and blast his way through adversity to stop him around the 9th or 10th round with precise, deadly punches that come even faster now.” - Ivan Goldman, The Ring Here is what Erik Morales had to say: “I see the fight going for Margarito in the first few rounds and if he lands a good punch his chance of winning will be good early on, but Cotto is too fast for him and if he is able to “weather the early Tornado” he should be able to win the fight by decision.” - Erik Morales, Three-Division World Champion
Margarito isnt getting knocked out. I'm picking Marg by late KO or decision. Its hard to choose against skill...but with Marg's durability and stamina, I have to bet with the underdog.
That is what I thought too, but I think as we near the fight, people become conservative and choose the fighter that is favored to win. I think Cotto too but I will not be surprised if Margarito can do it. I really do doubt it for Margo though because he will just need to pressure Cotto whereas Cotto is more versatile.
If Cotto wins this fight I could really see him being a slight favorite over PBF sometime in the future.
Ehhh listen boys screw the experts (we're the experts) lets just hope for a good fight worth my $50 because thats around the price of a nice VSOP Hennessy bottle for me.....looks like its going to be a $100 night then wake up sometime in the late afternoon on sunday for ham&eggs.
That is what this fight is all about for Tony, I mean even if everybody said Margarito was going to win, the doubters in terms of the fans is what Tony has his mind set on. He is fully focused for this win, and the way the Media is stacked in favor of Cotto, those numbers remind me of Holyfield Tyson 1. and Margarito is capable of pulling it out. Take note, Expect Cotto to be a south paw the night of the fight, most of Margaritos losses were against South paws but Cotto is not as big as Santos nor Williams, the other south paw Tony lost to was when Tony was around sixteen years old So I wouldnt really say that that fight matters. but just looking at that factor I am sure Cotto is going to switch up on Tony alot.
theres more for cotto because even if in your mind the fight is a toss up 50% 50 % you gotta give cotto the edge just based on his resume
I think that is what the media and fans are banking on, The resume can not be ignored Cotto has some SOLID Names on that resume. But you can have all those big names on your resume but come fight night if your not ready for whats in front of you, you get your ass whipped, Lennox Lewis seemed like a logical bet over Rahman the first time out, look what happend. Tyson seemed logical over Holyfield, Lacy seemed like he was the man to beat Calzaghe, Barrera seemed logical over Pacquiao. Names on your resume do point out what you have acheived in your career and nothing more, the fight itself has nothing to do with who you have beat, it how you deal with the man in front of you. I agree the Media and fans who are picking Cotto have a logical well thought out prediction, it makes sense, But sometimes like Hopkins says the hungrier fighter is the man that is usally the safer bet.
Cotto has the advantage. He simply has more choices. However, I expect a long night for both combatants.
