Tomas Molinares KO'd Starling, but there's not much else on his resume.

Maybe Randy Turpin? Don't know a ton about that era, but I'm guessing Cockell would be his next best win?

 

Barkley over Hearns fits too.

 

I think John Ruiz's career fits in this category. So many guys that he had wins over, and I must admit I scratch my head.

 

Alexis Arguello around his peak lost to Vilomar Fernandez. It was Arguello's only loss in an 8 1/2 year run over a 42 fight stretch! It's a BIG drop to Vilomar's second best win.

What's Kirkland Laing's second best win? He beat Duran and Roberto won another two world titles after that. You could add the Duran win to Robbie Sims too. Duran beat Barkley almost 3 years later.

 

Leonard Morrow did have some fine wins, but Archie Moore still stands out for me.

 

How good would Tiberi over Toney be here if not for one of the biggest robberies in modern day history.

 

Purrity and Brewster fit beautifully too. The only thing they ever really did was whoop Wlad. Puritty was beaten widely by Sanders just 13 months before he himself hammered Wlad, to boot.

 

After Cruz beat McGuigan I dont believe he did much else

 

Juan Manuel Marquez and the Manny win/wins.

I do not follow the lower weight classes below 140 so I mainly know guys if they come up. For a guy who was world champ in 4 weight classes almost 5 weight classes his resume seems dreadful compared to everyone else who accomplished stuff like that.

 

Some more modern Lightheavy's would be nice to add.

Also not really a scalp when he proved quite decisively he was a better fighter than Leonard

 

Starling vs Molinares was a NC (no contest). There was a lot of confusion that night. I think it was a few days later when the result was voided. This bout actually led to the 10 second warning near the end of rounds.

 

Duran won a close decision over Leonard the first time. Quit the second time whilst being thoroughly outclassed and unable to put a glove on him the last couple of rounds before no-massing … saw the handwriting on the wall. Lost the third fight by a wide, wide margin.

I’d say the record shows Leonard to be the superior fighter.
