Hearns absolutely destroys Charlo. Either of them. Canelo has no chance vs Prime Hagler. Hagler feeds his long jab down the centre, pivots off and smashes Canelo with huge shots whenever he gets overzealous with his pressure. Hagler would fight like a combination of Lara and GGG, which Canelo would NOT like. I assume we're talking the early '10s version of GGG? Not the slower, more power-reliant version who got the paydays? If so, then I'd say he has a chance of stopping Leonard, but I think Leonard is tough enough to go twelve. Losing a decision to the bigger guy, who doesn't show him respect and bulls him around. Although I can see Leonard winning if he cuts and runs vs an older GGG. Hurd vs Duran is the fight I think is the weirdest one here. I know Adam's OP was before J-Rock gave Hurd a crash course on infighting, but still, it should've been pretty clear. I thought so before that fight. Hurd's aggressive, weight bullying, in-your-face style kinda reminds me of a Barkley/Moore hybrid. And one who was soundly defeated by a much lesser infighter than Manos De Piedra.... Duran torments him.
I think the opposite. I think Marvin did his best when he was hit and had those long arms 75 inches and southpaw. I think he would get GGG on the inside and his superior physical strength would take GGG apart. Hearns said that Hagler was the physically strongest fighter he ever fought. Not the hardest puncher, but the physically strongest. Hagler will not fold to GGG. I think Hagler scores a TKO about 8 rounds. He would slowly take over. Similar to the Sibson fight on 1983.
I really don't know about that. He might have won but toyed with him? My point is that Hagler would have swallowed up GGG. Hagler was a much harder puncher than people thought especially when he counterpunched and his opponent was aggressive and he was strong.
I think the Sibson fight might be the best performance I have personally watched. He was magnificent in that fight, hardly put a foot wrong or wasted a punch. Absolutely superb. But yeah, Hagler was not generally a fast starting, in your face fighter from the first bell. What was surprising to many was how fast Hagler started against Hearns. It was atypical.
Probably a shutout for the Fab 4. At his best I don't Golovkin would lose to SRL. But the Golovkin from Canelo onwards would lose to SRL on the outside.
Hey Dop. Hagler started fast against Hearns for two reasons. 1. They had built up a fair old hate for each other by this time which of course turned to admiration. 2. It was Haglers best bet tactically. Boxing from range against Hearn's reach, speed and jab would both see him slide behind on points and also allow Hearns and that rapier like jab to work on Hagler's scar tissue around the brow which had been getting progressively more tender. He also got inside a lot of Hearns power by sitting on him. Hagler who showed himself to be a teeny bit suspect tactically and adapatability wise in a couple of big fights got this one spot on. He backed himself to survive Hearns vaunted power and come out the other side.
My friend you are right on point, Haggler wanted to Knock Hearns Out anyway like he said. Tactically the serious cut(which needed 15 stiches) and the present circumstances mandated that Haggler fight like he was in a real street fight. Those Thunderous body shots and the fight doctor about to stop the fight because of the massive bleeding from the gash on his forehead gave Hagler a split second to set Hearns up and land a vicious Knock Out blow to the side of the head. Tremendous Performance
