The Fab Four....who was the best of the bunch...?

He NEVER competed with Hearns :yep But yeah, he is the best out of the 4.

However, Leonard is my fave out of the 4, although I like all of them :good

If Leonard had actually met Hagler in The Marvellous Ones prime he woulda got smashed up.

Duran has the best resume, and was at the biggest disadvanateg when facing the others. He holds possibly the greatest single victory ever in Montreal; probably best LW ever, his dissection of Palomino is my favourite performance from him though :good

Duran is the only one who makes my top ten. Leonard, Hearns and Hagler are all in the 20-40 mark.

Hagler Had shown no evidence of decline his previous two fights.Wearin down Mugabi and destroying Hearns. So when was Hagler at his best?
I dont think abandoning the southpaw stance helped his cause,but Leonard was just too fast and too mobile:good

Leonard was a much smaller man. But he was well past prime when he faced Hagler himself. Who knows, maybe the 154 Leonard from just before the Hearns fight would have given prime Hagler a good argument.

 

Leonard.

Anyone who doubts it should cast their mind back to the Hagler fight where, after nearly 3 years out, he came back and gave one of the greatest perfomances of all time.

He would have beaten Hagler at any time.

 

Lads tough one this real tough. As much as I dislike Ray Leonard as a man and believe me I do I don't think anybody would have smashed him up at his peak even the Marvelous. Had they fought in 1982 as they should have I believe Marvin would have won like I believe he really did when they did fight.

I think the question is about their comparative greatness and all time pound for pound status. Therefore I think it has to be Manos de Piedra Hands of Stone Roberto Duran who in my opionion is the 3rd greatest fighter in the history of our sport pound for pound.

Marvelous Marvin is probably the greatest Middleweight ever. The great Sugar Ray Leonard is 2nd greatest Welterweight in the history of boxing and was the best fighter of his day. He beat all my heroes Benitez, Duran, Hearns etc.

Tommy Hearns boy o boy the most exciting fighter I have ever had the pleasure to watch. Eveyone talks about the right hand and his power. I always remember his outstanding boxing ability. Master boxers got outboxed by Tommy that is how gifted he was. He tool on all comers. He was probably the most gifted.

Duran for me. People talk about hios savagery etc for me the greatest Lightweight ever all due respect to Mayweather Junior, Pernell Whittaker, Ike Williams and Benny Leonard. It used to make me laugh when people tried to compare the likes of Hattton and Fenech to Duran not realising that skills wise he was on a different planet to these guys.

 

Why not?

 

Looking at the big picture of boxing in general then Duran, looking at results/ performances within the Fab Four then Leonard.

 

There os no doubt about that. In history, the others aren't even close to Roberto in the pfp list. If he had everything he had as a lightweight when he fought them, NOONE would have gone 15. :hat

Deffo Duran for me but really a hard question that could really be argued for any of them
