The fact that Bivol beat Canelo means jack **** against Beterbiev

It really wouldn't be. Usyk alone has three better wins (Briedis, Joshua & Gassiev). Estrada alone has two (Chocolatito & Rungvisai). You're overinflating how good Gvozdyk actually is. Beterbiev's win over him isn't better than Inoue's over Donaire; Canelo's over GGG; Taylor's over Prograis; Spence and Crawford's over Porter and it definitely isn't better than Bivol's over Canelo.

Beterbiev isn't on any pound for pound lists because he doesn't deserve to be. Not only that; the guy isn't even number eleven. Stevenson, Chocolatito, Briedis and Kambosos should get on there first.

Mistake I made with Bivol up until the Canelo fight was assuming he was a bit one-paced. I was wrong. He'd just not gone through the gears until he fought Canelo, and even then I don't think he got out of 2nd, despite fighting a P4P great.

Beterbiev brings the kind of danger which won't let Bivol coast, he'll have to show his full hand and, as yet, I don't think we've seen how good that hand is. We also don't know if he coasts because he can't fight with any greater intensity than we've already seen.

However, it would be wrong to underestimate his toughness - behind that calm demeanour is one tough MOFO with as mean a streak as Artur's. He also seems to have very decent whiskers - witness him taking a flush shot from Joe Smith Jr, which although left him on unsteady legs and luckily for him landed just before the bell, he took and came back from. Beterbiev does not hit harder than Joe, although is a much better boxer.

I suspect Bivol's footwork will help make Beterbiev miss a lot, but we know what can happen when he finally connects. Really is a pick 'em fight for me, but slightly leaning towards the younger, more technical man...

Disappointly, it sounds like Beterbiev isnt even being considered for Bivols next fight.

Which means that after that fight and a Canelo rematch, it could be close to a year or more before a Beterbiev fight takes place.

At some point the age and inactivity will be too much to overcome for Biev.

Beterbiev needs to make a statement against Joe Smith Jr. That way the public demand for a Canelo or Bivol unification fight will gather momentum.

There's no satisfaction in seeing Beterbiev wipe out someone like Yarde, Richards or Buatsi level fighters anymore.

Most people think so as well. Can you explain why that seems to upset you?

Doesn’t upset me, it’s just false.

this was 2 years ago. Safe to say he’s heavier now. There’s a reason why he doesn’t put out his fight night weights just like Floyd didn’t. They need to give this impression that they are smaller guys when they really aren’t.
