"There was definitely fight footage of Greb vs Tunney. The late Jim Jacobs, one of the most important figures in the sport's history when it comes to boxing footage, talked about this in an interview. He found somebody who had the footage and the person send it through mail to Jacobs but it got lost on the way over and was never found again. Huge kick in the nads for old school boxing fans." - BKM-2010 Has anyone else heard close but no cigar stories regarding Harry Greb tapes?
Never heard about these lost tapes that were almost in the possession of Jacobs... but thanks for the kick in the nads!
Yep, someone on another site sent me a private message saying they had the fight footage of Greb-Flowers II & III, Greb-Walker, Greb-B. Britton III and also Dempsey-Fulton. Obviously I jumped at the chance to buy them; he asked me; 'how much will you pay me for them?' Now I knew these tapes were worth a lot so I replied; '£800' and immediately, almost like he was waiting at the computer, he said; 'done.' He added that they were of excellent quality and came with some rare, signed photographs and that he'd send it all via courier as soon as he received payment in cash. So, I sent the cash. Unfortunately those tapes also got lost in the post and he was extremely apologetic about it all, but had to move to China or something not long afterwards.
Sorry :yep ****ing Greb tapes. Featherweight Armstrong, Williams-Montgomery, Napoles-Perkins, Charles-Moore, we will never find any of it :-(
Greb-Tunney, Greb-Walker and one of the Greb-Flowers fights were filmed. They could be found. If the training footage of Greb could be found in such pristine condition(albeit 20 years or so ago), then I see no reason why more footage of him couldn't be.
Some Bilderburger multi-billionaire sits in his castle, soaking his fingers in diamond and rubies, drinking baby's blood... watching Greb-Tunney.
