Kind of sucks that Haye is scared of Vitali & wald, really wanna see a fight with tho's guys.

lewis was around 38 at the time when he beat vitali due to TKO, I know he was trying to get a rematch with tyson before retiring and then that fell apart I think Lewis should of rematch vitali and IMO I think lewis would lose the rematch.

credit where credit is due, the klitschkos are good fighters, and they're dominant like it's never been seen, but look at the pool of guys they happen to be dominating. not a necessarily uber talented bunch if you really look at the history of the heavyweight class. I guess that's a matter of opinion though.

Fighters get **** for staying in the game too long, yet if you get out at the right time your running?

Lewis beat every guy he faced and not many can say that. Why fight past your best and have another 4-5 losses to guys you would have blitzed in your prime?

I don't agree with it, but the reason people say stuff about lewis running from klitschko and so and and so forth is because of the way he beat vitali. you saw it, I saw it. the guy who made this thread saw it. it wasn't definitive. either way, when you look at the guy's body of work it's a real joke to consider him any type of guy who ran away.

Lewis was ready to be knocked out. It was obvious. Max Kellerman was sitting right behind Lewis' corner and said that Lewis was finished. Lewis had to hold on to Vitali to stay on his feet. Lewis' promoter signaled to Lewis' doctor to stop the fight, if his doctor had not stopped the fight Lewis would have been knocked out. Lewis' did not like his badly broken nose and he was losing on the cards. Vitali staggered Lewis more than once. Lewis could not stagger Vitali at all. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the title that night.

The nerve of these fools to say Lewis ran from Vitali. Vitali had his chance and failed to capitalize. Since when does a champion have to give a rematch even though he won the fight. Ridiculous. I would have liked to see a rematch myself, but there's no way a can fault Lewis for deciding that it's time to retire after all those years of hard training and fighting the best. Lewis was smart enough to go out on top and not risk his future health by forcing it.

A few clowns like Haye, Povetkin, Nikolay "Circus" Valuev, and Odlanier "Curvaceous" Solis might be running but the likes of Toney, Holyfield, and Briggs have always wanted to fight the Klitschkos, even if their best is long gone.

Lewis proved himself a coward after that fight. He promised a rematch, he knew he would have lost that fight and his nose was so badly broken it was hurting his breathing and he was swallowing too much blood. He turned down huge amounts of money. Vitali will fight him anywhere and at any time, but Lewis refuses and I don't blame him. Lewis was finished.

Lewis' win over Klitscko wasnt definitive ok but if you really look from his perspective the rematch didnt make that much sence. The age was catching up to him and the motivation wasnt there, evident by the shape he came in to fight Vitali. The money was not Tyson like and the risk was bigger. He accomplished everything, beat his rivals Tyson and Holyfield, made millions and solidified his place as one of the ATG. Klitschko wasnt that big of a name at the time.

I strongly disagree with you. Watch it again. When I watched the last round, Vitali looked almost completely spent.

Vitali started the round by landing a few punches, but his posture was showing that he was seriously tired. Lewis was coming forward and hit him with a good right and Vitali held immediately. Vitali then landed another right, but didn't stop Lewis from coming forward. Then, Vitali got clocked with a vicious uppercut, and immediately hugged Lewis, and looked like he was gonna pass out.

From that point on, Vitali's whole body demeanor showed that he was close to the end, because all he was doing was holding on. Lennox then landed another big hook.

Vitali then landed a right but continued to hold on. Vitali soon after that had some success pushing Lewis back, but Lewis spun him around and then landed another uppercut, and Vitali held on for dear life.

Forget the announcers and watch the last round with no sound.

Vitali is lucky they stopped it, because he was done and Lewis would have KO'd him and probably ruined his confidence and career.

    Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis

    THE TRUTH

Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.

    punches landed

    Vitali 156

    Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.

    Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 30 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared him into retirement.

Very biased post. They were both very tired after round 6 and no one can say what would happen later on. The fight was stopped because of an injury and the decision of doctor was correct, the verdict was correct, but there was no conclusion to this fight.

I watch the last round a few time. They both look tired, but not exhausted. Vitali had some success in the last round with his aggression and Lewis landed 2 nice uppercuts which Vitali which had no affect. It would have been nice to see what would have happened if Vitali was allowed to continue. I don't think anyone could predict the outcome.
