they where two of the best fighters ever to train out of hawaii and two of the hardest hitting lightweights of their era.

rolando navaratte who originally came from the phillipines before residing in hawaii reigned as champion right around the same time the andrew gannigan was contending at lightweight.

this fight would have been the biggest fight of two hawaii stars since dado marino fought david kui kong young

Both are hard punching southpaws although Andy had more of a kill or be killed style and usually squared up to his target. Navarette on the other hand had a great counter right-hook and a nice technically solid style which I enjoy watching.

He dismantled Boza with the hook and gave him a beating, ground out a controversial win over the talented Chung Il Choi and dominated most of the early/middle rounds against the exceptionally tough Limon before fading late and being stopped.

Knowing Andy he would be looking to land his atomic left hand from the get-go and would try to lure Rolando into a brawl which he wouldn`t fall for. Rolando was a smart fighter and would have kept the fight at ring center and countered the heck ouf Andy before stopping him sometime past the 5th round.
