actually I dont remember the title of Lampley's show and dont feel like looking it up but I think thats what its called.......lol I havent really seen any threads about the last episode. What did you guys think? I missed the very begining with the P4P list. I was shocked when Bradley said that a Gamboa fight had been discussed. One thing that really stood out to me was Lampley/HBO seemingly getting killed with his interviews with Kellerman & Iole. To me it seemed like Lampley was trying to downplay the Floyd deal and was smaller than reported & will backfire on Showtime. Then Iole comes on and makes it sound like it was a huge deal for Showtime and acts like they are the major players now.......lol Then Lampley goes on to Max about how the only way to justify the deal is if Floyd fights guys like Sergio & Triple G which he never would but then Max basically says its dumb for people to demand a small guy like Floyd who came from 130 to fight guys like Sergio & espically Triple G. I think he said that Floyd's not even a big WW
Lampley is an idiot, but "The Fight Game" is primarily intended for non boxing fans, to get them interested in the sport. As such, I think it's great. All that time devoted to topics that make the sport interesting, and Lampley, despite his lack of actual boxing knowledge, has a great voice & energy. He's very good at keeping you listening. This series is sure to bring new fans to the sport. Exactly what we need.
I'm all for building the sports-Alvarado Maidana-Lopez, Canelo-Trout and great promos would work much better than fight game
Any casual who turned that show on would have switched channels to a different sport and not come back for a while. It was all pissing and moaning about the state of the game and the network wars. Plus a terrible interview with Bradley. One thing to watch out for though...going forward Bradley is going to be a dick. He's figuring out that the nice guy stuff gets him shat on by interviewers. You could sense his discomfort with what Lampley was saying to him. At one point it was something like "What do you say to those, myself included, who absolutely refuse to give you any credit for that decision over Pacquiao???" At that point you could see the thought of going off on him go through Bradley's mind. I wish he had. Bradley is going to step up soon. It was a terrible show. I don't turn on CNN to hear them talk **** on MSNBC. Or to hear them talk about the ratings war between CNN and Fox or whatever. People don't care about that ****. Only hardcore fans care because we know it's important as far a bringing us the fights we want. Casuals are just like wtf I want to see people fight.
It was ok until Lampley said that Marquez's knockout over Pacquiao made people reevaluate the Pacquiao/Bradley fight. Who the fukk did that? What is he smoking? Pacquiao getting KO'd changes absolutely nothing about what happened in the Bradley fight, a robbery remains a robbery. It felt like he was told by HBO to suck up to Bradley now that their big star Pacquiao has fallen. Disgusting. And this show only covers fights that take place in the US involving known fighters, it's not a proper boxing results/preview show. You can watch much more informative shows on Youtube made by fans. Fight Game is pathetic.
Lampley says some innaccurate things sometimes, but I like his energy and enthusiasm whenever commentating on fights. He just puts a nice vibe on fights with his tone. Larry Merchant on the other hand is not enthusiastic but his post-fight interviews are for the most part good.
