And like I have been saying for a long time Shane's legs are still good. And just as importantly Naz and Shane plan on using them to control distance in this fight.

Shane's legs and the control of distance is the most important factor in this fight. And contrary to popular belief, Shane and Naz want to keep PBF at long range when they are in the center of the ring.

Shane will not be plodding forward.
    Shane will not be swarming.
Shane will not be fighting a "pressure or swarming" style fight.

Do NOT expect any of the above....period!

The question you all have been struggling with is really a simple one but you are all making it more complicated than it is. Why couldn't Shane use his legs better against Cotto?

Well your question is worded wrong for starters. It is not why "couldn't" Shane, it is why "didn't" Shane use his legs better to control distance in that fight.

The simple answer is, he didn't train to do so. It wasn't a focus because he thought he had a plodder in their with him. Someone who was going to fight in a phone booth. Shane had a bad night plain and simple.

The other mistake most are making besides focusing on the Cotto fight too much. Is not focusing on the right things from the Margo fight. Forget about the KO, forget about Shane's power, or anything associated with his offense in that fight.

If you are interested in knowing if Shane's legs are still good, you should be focusing on how Shane offset Margo's "PRESSURE". Shane used several strategies all at once in every round.

Shane used his jab to stop Margo's momentum.
Shane used short compact footwork to sidestep Margo's pressure.
Shane at times slid under Margo's punchers getting on the inside and smothering Margo's attempts to be offensive.

Shane was constantly changing distance against Margo, and keeping the jab in his face. But he did so without appearing to be running, or wasting a lot of energy bouncing around on his toes. He slid side to side and fired a jab or counter, or a combo off of that movement. And he did that from the first bell to the 9th round KO.

People Shane's legs are good, and that is what is going to surprise PBF when he finds Shane not directly in front of him. That is what is going to win Shane this fight. Shane is a better offensive fighter, and coupled with his durability, his punching power in both hands, and supported by legs that can get him in position and out of danger will win him this fight.

Shane doesn't have to be as fast on his feet as Pacman, because he is taller and longer than PBF. He just has to have good legs, not great ones. If he were Pac's size then yes he would need legs like Pac to get the job done.

P.S. - And all the talk about PBF KO'ing someone is WHISTLING IN THE DARK by PBF fans trying to pump themselves up for a fight they are nervous about. All the hedging of bets by those saying Shane is going to be dominated but in the next breath saying, "he has a chance"; which is it people does he have a chance or is he going to be dominated. All the fanboys of fighters beaten by PBF and or *******s who are worried about a Shane victory and what it will mean for their boxing "LOVE INTERESTS", you are all going to have a lot of crow to eat. Real fans know that both fighters are good enough to win this fight. And to say that one or the other doesn't have a chance is complete NONSENSE!

FINALLY, someone with some sense on here.

i find it crazy that people say shane has no defense, no jab, blah blah blah....shane cant box, they watch too much 24/7

    this is a refreshing post.

i think the fight will be competitive!

If body shots are available then yes take advantage of that. I expect Shane to shoot his right hand to the body from the outside.

But no one punch or attack is going to get it done. He will have to mix it up to keep PBF guessing and off balance.

    38. Too old. Shane will be outpointed. It won't be 'Pretty'. It'll just be the way it is: Floyd UD.

The **** are you talking about. . lol Shane could get away with dictating distance with Margarito b/c that was ****ing Margarito. The slowest top fighter at welterweight. This is Floyd. Floyd is not going to stand around while Shane moves in and out using angles(his stiff ass lack of upper body movement and head movement say otherwise) while peppering Floyd with shots. Floyds only concern is Shane's body punching and the fact that he has a killer left hook that is akward. I dont think the right hands will be a problem for Floyd to see b/c every top fighter with defense were able to avoid these shots. Fighters with half the defense of Floyd. If Shane stays at that distance that you are talking about he WILL get pot shotted. Shane had to clinch Margarito about 10 times per round to avoid shots b/c his defense is only but so good. Excellent strategy with a come foward aggressive plodder. But that same **** wont work on Floyd. Holla back here around midnight 1am and we will see who is full of ****. No excuses *****.

It is perfectly possilbe for PBF to win by decision. No one is disputing that. But I think you will see in the fight no matter win, lose or draw, that Shane's legs are good and the age wasn't a factor.

But I disagree, I see Shane taking a decison.

The fight hinges on Mayweather's vagina.

No he isn't. And if you actually watched his fights against DLH, Hatton, and JMM you would see he uses timing and in some cases in length against the smaller guys.

DLH who was a virtual plodder in their fight was able to close distance because PBF doesn't MOVE the way he did at lightweight anymore. And Hatton was able to close distance consistently because he had quick feet.

Once this myth is bursted very early in the fight you are going to IMMEDIATELY think of me..........watch and see.

Shane's one of my favorite fighters, period. I want him to beat the **** out of Mayweather, but I just don't see it happening. There's more to age than just the legs going. It's a matter of losing a half-second of speed here, a half-second of mental sharpness or reflex there. It all adds up. Shane is still a top pfp and an atg, but age will be a factor. Not in the sense that he'll look bad, but that he won't fight near the level that he was once capable of. Add ring rust to that and it spells disaster. That said, I hope to be proven very wrong.

Stop hoping Ocelot.....no need to. That is why it is important to look at the right things in that Margo fight. Shane's energy level against a pressure fighter is high throughout the fight and Shane is utilizing 4 different strategies at the same time in every round to offset his pressure.

Shane is still sharp enough, and has enough size, speed, and power to overcome PBF's skillful counterpunching. You are going to kick yourself for not trusting your Boxing IQ

That's just it, when I use my boxing IQ (which is pretty f*&king small, btw. lol.) I can't see Shane winning this. Mayweather will make him miss repeatedly, then counter. Rinse and repeat, ad nauseum. I hope Shane goes to the body from the start. Take a page out of Kessler's fight with Froch. Break Floyd down in a way that no one else has. But that's easier typed than done.
