as the fight nobody or virtually nobody would've beaten him that night. Kinda like Montreal Duran... Which Ali fight represents the same.
The Foreman fight. If George's bombs to the hips constantly cant stop him, nothing could. He took some shots to the body in that fight and he had enough to spring off the ropes and hit with those fast combos!
Frazier III, you would have had to kill him in the ring to beat him. That last rally defies logic, to take the beating he did and come back that strong.
Floyd Patterson I Throw out the Sonny Liston fights, as there was 'too much baggage' concerning those bouts. Muhammad Ali proved he was to be reckoned with, after destroying a very capable Floyd Patterson, in a 'one-sided' bout. In November 1965, I don't believe any of the Heavyweights out there could have laid a glove on him, let alone beat him.
Good call. One of Ali's best nights. But any of his defences in his first reign really. He was always in top physical condition and well prepared mentally. Mildenberger made him look a bit bad at times and Folley did ask some questions, but it was interesting to see him adapt to overcome the challenges they posed. He of course looks at his absolute best against Williams, but Williams then was a spent shell at the time. Ali's speed, balance, coordination and fluidity for such a big man is a beauty to see, though.
Virtually any of Ali's fights circa 1965-67. And,going against the grain, the George Foreman fight when he was slightly passed his physical prime. There was something about him that night, which screamed out "I'm gonna regain that title,no matter what" !
I think the Williams fight. Fair enough Williams wasn't a stern test way past his prime, but it was just the way Ali went about his business. Such greater speed of hand and foot I don't think has ever been witnessed by any heavyweight.
