Y'know for some reason I always figured if Toney ever came out of retirement to fight another old timer it'd be Bernard Hopkins. Dunno why. Maybe it's just cause both were active relatively recent within the last decade. Maybe just cause I was disappointed when I realized that fight never happened. Not that seeing the mid 50 year old versions fight would be much consolation Anyways, another silly gimmick fight, par for the course for Triller. But I guess at least it's two old boxers and not an old boxer getting beat up on by a young guy. Weren't they or some other promotion planning on having some basketball player further damage poor Riddick Bowe's brain last year?
Both of these geezers need to sit down and listen to Marsellus Wallace's speech to Butch in Pulp Fiction.
Beenie Man should be singing 'Hmm Hmm' as they enter the ring. Subtitles will be required for the victory speech.
Any time someone mentions Riddick Bowe I think of this. Time stamped for some laughs. This content is protected
I was so concerned when this was announced. Toney doesn’t even have any business light sparring anymore. Ruddock honestly seems pretty healthy, but still a terrible event to put together.
I still have a Ruddock trash compactor. I used it to prop up my Foreman grill. And I used that to grill my copy of How I Fought Wilder As Many Times As Possible: And Why (The Tyson J. Fury Story).
It should be borderline forbidden for Bowe to step back in the ring or any of these guys when they start showing mental decline. How his team was okay with watching the beatdown Golata gave him both to the brain and nuts, I have no idea.
