20 years ago. Manny knew he couldn't compete with even the shot greats of baaxing, and so he turned himself into the Superminge. We're seeing the same thing today with Clenelo

Love live Erik Morales, Dinamita Marquez and Gennady Golovkin

It is interesting that Pacquiao was getting his butt kicked by smaller guys like Morales, Marquez and Nedal Hussein but then was all of a sudden able to withstand shots from and beat up huge guys like Magarito.

    PEDs don't improve punch resistance.

Really? They seem to work for Fluid and Clenelo I can count the number of times both have been hurt on one hand.

But do peds increase the pain tolerance/threshold?

I am not implying pacquiao did them, just curious.

Pac defied the laws of physics beating up huge boxers in comparison by the time he got to Welter. Life isn't a Kung Fu movie. When it happens once you might write it off as skill. But when it keeps happening, that he's overpowering these guys, it becomes unbelievable.

The question of PEDs and punch resistance is actually pretty interesting because maybe there actually are substances that help the brain absorb concussive impact better. Even if not, pain killer use was mentioned with Pac I recall, so while that doesn't stop concussion it can help quite a bit in a fight. A fighter with pain killer enhancement can walk through more shots.

Malignaggi is the guy to listen to on this issue, even though he has a blind spot with Mayweather. When these guys are just jumping up many weight classes and carrying their power advantage and beating up bigger guys, it's typically going to be PEDs. He's someone that felt a big difference just going from 140 to 147.

There are quite a few fighters who've gone up just one weight class and mentioned that they feel too small and the guys there are too powerful, so move back down.

You can really tell how absolutely useless modern boxers are since both are retired yet Pacquiao and Floyd STILL live rent-free in so many heads.

If Khan is on the same PED as Canelo or Pac. He would have knocked his ginger head off. He was teeing on Canelo the first 5 rounds.
Heck, I think he would have given Beterbiev a hard time.

Pac got exposed a little in that first fight with Morales as being too one dimensional. Morales was always a bad style match up for that version of Pac. Tall enough to jab over Pac's lead left hand which usually blocks the path of an orthodox fighters jab, superb right hand which is always a southpaw's kryptonite and with a huge 5 inch reach advantage could still catch Pacquiao as he backed up in a straight line as he always tended to do back then.

Not sure how steroids would of helped Pac develop an improved right hand and more importantly improved his lateral movement so he wasn't always on the line for Morales long right hand.

Movement was always Morales big weakness as the Raheem fight showed. Being a taller fighter he never needed to move much as his opponents always had to come to him, but any lateral movement and it neutralised him to some degree. That's what Pac changed and mainly why he won the rematches.

Seems foolish to believe that any fighter with the means to do PEDs and get away with it wouldn't do so.
Cycling is more regulated certainly than boxing and those guys cheat for a few million dollars. You don't think Floyd, Pacquiao, Canelo, Cotto, any fighter that makes big money cheats? These guys are fighting for tens of millions of dollars for one nights work in the most corrupt and unmonitored sport in existence that is also one of the most predominantly bet on. It's borderline idiotic to think the top guys are clean.
Look at Mosley's 2 fights with ODH. Mosley beat him in the fight where he wasn't on BALCO, but ODH arguably beat Shane when he was busted for one of the most powerful steroids ever. What are the chances ODH was clean? None I'd say.
