I was always critical of Mayweather, I knew he was good but always thought that he wasnt as good as he thinks he is (this could still very well be the case.) I was dying to see him fight someone that I believed would beat him.

Then when he signed to fight Oscar de la hoya, I was over the moon, I thought... YES:happy he is finally gonna get his ass handed to him.

At the time, I thought DLH won, but I didnt like Floyd & I was highly intoxicated on alcohol, bad mix when trying to be unbiased.

Ive watched the fight numerous times & I had Mayweather edging it by 1 or 2 points once Oscar started gassing after rd 9.

It was the way Mayweather produced in his biggest fight when in the toughest fight (I havent seen FMJ/Castillo I) he has been in, the way he came up with the goods & did what he had to do to pull away.

His punch picking was awesome & he swept the last 3 rds - rd 11 being somewhat of a boxing clinic.

This was the fight were Floyd Mayweather proved to me that he was one of the greatest boxers of all time vs a past prime but bigger & very skilled great fighter who never came to lose.

This guy MUST come back to further cement his legacy even more + I love watching him fight, any real boxing fan couldnt help but admire his ability.

He won't further cement his legacy by coming back for a big money, pointless rematch against either Oscar or Hatton.I would love to see him fight a contender at 147 Cotto,Margo or PW,even Mosley. This would further cement his legacy for sure and should improve peoples opinion of him

Mayweather proved he was a genuine boxing star by beating the likes of Oscar, Hatton and Castillo. But imo he goes down in history as a very good fighter, not an ATG. However, due the current level of talent in or around the welterweight division (Margo, Cotto, Williams etc) Mayweather really does have a chance of going down as one of the greatest of all time. His current resume is good but if he could add those 3 names, plus the winner of De la hoya pacman, there isnt a boxing fan alive who wouldn't take their hat of to him. This does mean putting his undefeated record on the line but for a shot at boxing imortality, id certainly give it a shot.

As much as I don't like him he is an ATG but a weak one.I guess his most impressive performance was vs Corrales.

    - A very intellegent observation, I hope he returns as well he has just a little more to do before he can call himself the best.

I said this before, a fighter to be called an ATG, must have at least 50 fights in his career and face any top fighter who challanges him.Mayweather is a verry talented fighter but he has to do more to be called an ATG.

oh u make ATG rules? wow...how much u get paid?...can i get a job with you? here are mine

5 div champs are all time greats
fighters who reitre undefeated at a world class level are all time greats
guys with incredible speed footwork defense and balance are all time greats

so I guess PBF is an ATG....50 fights might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard

A fighter does not need any specific amount of fights to be considered an ATG. The second point in your post applies to some extent (though not fully), but definitely not the first.

I suppose you don't consider Leonard or Whitaker all time greats?

I don't make rules, is just an opinion. I just don't consider Maywether to be ATG. He retired too soon at 30. he doesn't have health problems ,he just retired because he is full of money , and that proves that his love for this sport is not that great. Roy jones, Hopkins or Oscar have a lot of money out of boxing but they didn't retire so soon, they have passion.

Who are you to question his passion and love for the sport??He has children, money and brittle hands which are all reasons for his early retirement, though we know he'll be back.Roy Jones fought on and looks a shell of his former self.Floyd went out on top you have to respect that
