So you agree, but you just want to be like Stoo? Wow kid, you got some pretty shitty role models.

No one will agree with you here. According to them, the best TDD in the world involves constantly getting tied up, gassing early, and being pummeled after the first round.

Edit - Nope, I'm not getting sucked into it.

    GSP
Aldo is getting up there, he's fought great wrestlers and no one can touch him.
    Bj Penn
CroCop in PRIDE was scary good

Depends what best TDD refers to, best TDD technique, or best practical TDD over the course of a fight. The question needs clarifying ;)

No. But doing it up at WW for even 1 round against those guys shows he is the best at defending takedowns.

Frankie edgar was too quick for him, he was taking Bendo down alot also. He just mixes up his pitter patty little punches good, with his quick takedowns. The Edgar fight aside, BJs TDD is second to none. Go watch the friggin guy fight if you have to. This is silly.

And you didn't answer my question about GSP going to middleweight. or address any of the other valid points I made. Post something intelligent. :good

I totally agree. But he was being worn down by elite wrestlers, in a division above him. Aside from the Edgar fight, name one time he was taken down easily by a fighter.

And yes, maybe I should qualify my stance, as BJ Penn has the best TDD technique and ability, but does not always execute it due to fatigue and stronger/bigger opposition...much like the rest of his game :deal

If you have technique and don´t defend TDs....well, I don´t think we should call it technique......:think

Who does it better. Who defend TDs better in MMA. Simple.

    Who is your pick?

    GSP?

Do you honestly believe he can stuff Sonnen, Munoz, Hendo, Weidman for a full round if they all go all out for the takedown?
Because that is what BJ accomplished.

I cannot think of any fighter alive that can go up a weightclass, weigh 20 lighter on fight night, and fight off the best wrestler in that class for 5 minutes from taking them down. Please let me know who else can do that. Yes, "simple boys".....this is a simple argument. :deal

I would say, other than the BJ of a few years ago. GSP, Aldo maybe. Machida is pretty tough to get down also. :good

    Great point!

Non gassed BJ = GOAT by miles.

I think Karelin would have a hard time taking him down.

Wait. 155lb BJ? Or 170lb BJ? LW BJ may be able to win a 5rd decision, he had better stamina. But WW BJ gets gassed early, and pile driven to a KO defeat in the 2nd round. :hey :yep

155?? lol unless Karelin can move faster than Edgar. 170 Yes I agree the key is to finish it early.
