    Really? Wouldn`t he need to change the way he behaved in an interview and stuff and surely his lack of power would hurt his marketability in this era.

    Could you imagine the kind of star Gavilan would have been if with his skills he looked like Paul Newman? Racial stuff aside, Newman would have been a very marketable personality in the boxing world, I could see him as a charismatic trainer also, just saying.

    Maybe I’m exaggerating...but he would be a popular tv fighter now ...just as he was a popular tv fighter then

    I know Galento wasn't the greatest of opponents, but still , focus on
    Louis's punch placement,the torque and leverage he gets, From long range or in close( Quite a few times
    so close it's amazing he was able to get a solid shot off,) What heavyweight
    in 60-70 yrs that even come close to Louis offensively? Tyson is the
    2nd best offensive heavyweight in history, still, he ain't Joe Louis.
    The heavyweights today are not on the same planet.

    This. Louis being able to get his punches off from every angle so effectively made Galento’s crouch worthless. Against other opponents Galento’s crouch was very effective in allowing Galento to sneak in his left hook. Louis made neutralizing the crouch look so easy. Galento was forced to punch with Louis to land clean and knock Louis down, but all that did was light a fire under Joe Louis.
