    So, because Joe's hand was closer to his opponent (which you said made him ready to strike as soon as they punch) he missed more? And because Roy had his further away he landed it more, even while backing up? (which is harder to do, Roy is more skilled than Louis)

    That`s not what I meant, Joe missed more because he threw but maybe landed as many or more than Roy did, kind like Joe throwing for hooks in a short space of time and landing one while Roy throws two in that space of time and lands one, Roy wa more economical with his counter hooks because he wasn`t right there to be punch at, the more you throw the mor you`re going to miss and land etc.
