They're going to cater to Saul by having him host his own fight out in Mexico. The plan is to make "Star Power" a split site PPV. Saul will be able to collect his own live gate revenue that way.

Ortiz last fight did 1.5? Is that in viewers because that wasn't on PPV and 1.5 viewers on regular HBO doesn't make the same money as 1.5 PPV numbers.

Add Marco Antonio Barrera or Fernando Montiel and we got a fiesta in the ring! :hat

    Think about it:

    Victor Ortiz: Mexican Blood
    Saul Alvarez: Born in Mexico
    Erik Morales: Born in Mexico
Marco Antonio Barrera: Born in Mexico
    Fernando Montiel: FIESTA!

I don't see how this helps the under-card. It's sucks for the gate because they are separate venues but its bad for Mexicans because now they have to choose between Alvarez (Staples Center) and Ortiz/Morales (MGM). How the hell are they going to split the PPV? No one knows who the hell Alfonso Gomez is. Its a venue war. People that don't care about the gambling who are from LA will stay in LA but what about the Morales supporters? Then what about the people that love the Vegas venue and support Alvarez? The live gate is a freaking mess! I guess they are going to show both fights at each venue's big screen, that is the only plus I see hear, if you both a ticket you get to see both fights for one price? Or is that only good for the PPV?

My guess is the remaining ticket prices for Mayweather / Ortiz drop close to face value and people start buying up the staples center tickets at $50 and get to see Morales / Corolla & Mayweather / Ortiz on the big screen. and no sellout for Mayweather Ortiz.

Golden Boy Makes Alvarez vs Gomez Official as Part of Mayweather vs Ortiz PPV

"It's going to be an historic pay-per-view. It will be an amazing experience because the fans at Staples Center will be able to see the live feed from Las Vegas and also see Canelo Alvarez fight live that night, and the people in Las Vegas can see the live feed from the Canelo fight in the Staples Center," Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com.
