    I was scratching my head for awhile trying to think of a different & interesting thread to switch it up a bit around esb general, and I came up with this fantasy match up, which I think is pretty intriguing.

    The version of Moore I chose to use, was the vintage 1961 edition who, correct me if I'm wrong, held/won the world title at Light Heavyweight at the time. I believe he was 44 going on 45 that year.

    And the version of Hopkins I wanted to put Moore against, is the current version we have as of this post. Now although Hopkins finally looks to be legitamately slipping, we all know he is on the brink of possibly gaining the lineal light heavy championship, yet again, erasing yet again what we think is to be father time finally taking ahold of BHop.

    Now, it would be a hell of alot easier for me to post my judgement on this one if I could fast forward to Hopkins' performance against Pascal in December. So barring that, I will say, this is a pretty hard fight to call. Now, the first thing I notice when comparing thier resume's at this age, is that Moore at 45 still has good ko power, whereas Hopkins no longer tries for ko's, at all.

    I see the two men, fighting on relatively even terms, maybe with Hopkins having a slight edge, considering Hopkins' style would porbably befuddle Moore, who I'll go on a limb and say, he has probably never dealt with someone like Hopkins style in his era. (I could be very wrong considering his outstand resume).

    But I see this becoming more intersting coming down the strech, like around the 10th. Moore seems to have kept his power alot better than Hopkins has at their age, and if Moore could keep his work rate up and land with power late, it could have a very telling effect on Hopkins. But I think, Hopkins will feel Moore's power late, but will go on a limb and say, Bhop stays on his feet, knowing a kd could change the fight.

    Moore 115-113, 116-112, 113-114 Hopkins.
    (Moore SD12 Hopkins)

    I see Hopkins rising to the occasion, but Moore's massive experince, and power advantage will be the telling factors in this on imo, mixed with Moore's advantage in being used to 15 round fights.

    -> I have both fighters fighting as previously stating, at age 45.
    -> This is a 12 round fight, not 15.
    -> This is for the lineal lhw title, so assume both fighters will be at their 45yo best.

    As much as I like the Archie Moore Legend, I'm still not betting against Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins wins a competitive UD.

    Hopkins didn't look good against Roy last time out.... Hmm, good question, this one. These are two of my favourite all-time fighters, Hopkins and Archie. I'd probably lean toward Hopkins, but this fight would be such a cat and mouse affair.

    Well put.

    I think this fight wouldn't be fun to watch to the average boxing fan. This is a boxing purest type fight, it would be the sweet science at its finest.

    But, I think how Bhop's december fight plays out, will be a good indication of what Bhop still has left, in the 45yo comparitive I'm doing between these two.
