I included those I felt were relevant options. Personally I voted Floyd. I understand it is arguable from a resume point of view, but subjectivly I favour him because of how he has performed in the ring.
How is Roy Jones Jr considered this 'era' If you want to include Roy Jones who's prime ended in the early 2000's. you have to include all the great 90's era fighters as well.
What do you mean our time also. Speaking from a high school student point of view a college student point of view a 30 year old point of view a 40 year old point of view. The age group on ESB ranges from 8-70
of my time.(the last 10 years) its Floyd without a doubt. Finest Figher is Manny. Boxer its Floyd. Jones was just before my time.
Roy wouldn't count in this era, if he does, he shouldn't be in the poll because of his performances for the last few years.
Pacquiao. He may not have the slick defensive skills of Mayweather or the other-worldly ability of Roy Jones, but for a former light-flyweight to move up and absolutely destroy top guys at lww and ww was nothing short of historic. In his 2008-2010 peak, his movement, footwork, speed and power were breath-taking. A very special offensive fighter, and a solid-gold ATG.
Out of those it gotta be Floyd.. Jones and Bernard probably comes close though.. All 5 are great boxers..
Id say Jones, but he is from the last generation or school of fighters like Mosley, DLH, Lewis, etc. I consider Floyd, Manny, even Marquez and Hopkins to be of this generation (barely even) based on when they had the most success. For me, its either Marquez or Floyd. They are the classiest fighters in the ring.
Jones is still busy hurting his own legacy by getting soundly beaten over and over again. His heartbreaking "rise and fall"-story contributes to the drama of the sport. I dont include retired boxers.
