But to use the favourite American phrase of "prime". Were Louis,Moore,Charles in their "prime" when Marciano beat them? Did the Americans voting in this pole suddenley forget that, after all the phrase is chucked at Calzaghe ALL the time!

Marciano beat Hall of Famers that actually still had some fight left in them. Louis was the most past prime but had put together some good wins going into the fight. Walcott was still very good (more so in their first fight), Charles rose to the occasion and gave Marciano hell in two fights, Moore was as good as ever in my opinion.

Jones was a shadow of his former self vs. Calzaghe (still dropped him in round 1). Hopkins was still very good and almost beat Joe.

Hopkins and Jones are hall of famers. Jones defeated Trinidad in the fight before JC and a number of people predicted he would win because of his speed and bigger punch. That is hardly shot. Hopkins was well beat. The judge who scored it 116-111 got it right.

Trinidad is a well past his prime Welterweight.:huh Jones is shot to pieces who of which just got K.O in 1 round...Hopkins was 43, who at worst lost a split decision and at best won the fight. Marciano's record destroys Cazaghes.

i'll keep it Str8 for you pug

    49-0 43 Ko's > 46-0 32 Ko's

HW belt > SMW & LHW belt

HOF names on resume: Marciano > Calzaghe

MArciano Defended his Linear undisputed HW Title 6 times > Calzaghe's 3 Smw linear title defense and 1 LHW title defense. both are great figthers but marciano is clearly the Greater of the 2 and the more impresive Unblemished Record. Case closed and never to be reopened again
