Journeyman Pacquiao and hype job Mayweather are eyeing each other up shortly after the bell when Kell Brook's music hits and he runs out and batters both fighters, raisng the WBO, WBC and WBA titles along with his own IBF title, while Max Kellerman compares Brook to Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather to Adrian Broner, Manny Pacquiao to AMir Khan and himself to Jim Watt. You heard it here first.
i'm sure you have come across a recent article where Pacquiao claims he's a better figter after the JMM fight, did you happen to read it? Pacquiao will strike a balance here. I think he will try and fight similar to how he fought Rios. I know Rios is slower and less skilled than Floyd but all i'm saying is that Pac will be a little more cautious, smarter and pick his spots to attack. I agree that Pacquiao will not let rounds go by without being busy but i don;t expect him to be as aggressive as when he fought Morales or JMM and Hatton for instance. Floyd will make Pacquiao pay from mistakes and as Pacquiao himself has said, he has improved after JMM KO. JMM put him to sleep for Pacquiao making one of the dumbest moves he has ever made in his career. He expects Floyd to be smarter and more accurate with counterpunches so i definitely see a relatively cautious Manny in this fight. The last thing Manny wants is to charge Floyd and get hurt early on for being reckless, the fight will be over in a blink of an eye. This risky strategy is not something Pacquiao should gamble with facing arguably the smartest and most technical fighter of his era. I disagree with you that Floyd will seal his fate by being aggressive. Just like Manny won't want to give rounds away, neither will Floyd. Floyd doesn't want to be too defensive in the most important fight of his life and lose a 12 round decision for not doing enough, fat chance of this happening. I do see floyd being more aggressive than he usually is, in first 4-5 rounds; he's usually a slow starter and too defensive. This may have worked against other opponents, like a slow canelo but will be an almost sure loss vs Manny. Now keep in mind, i'm saying 'more aggressive' than usual so it's relative, i'm not saying Floyd will go in there charging Manny and throwing wildly, no.
I did read it! Lol. Pacquiao did say he was smarter and more patient, but I think that is reflected in strategic aggression rather than cautiousness. Personally, I think Manny is going to have to throw at least 70-80 punches a round to win. Pacquiao boxed Rios, and if he tries to box Mayweather, then he'll lose terribly. Pacquiao needs to impose his fighting style on Mayweather. Some say Pacquiao's Marquez performance was reckless. I personally think it was the best Pacquiao I've ever seen, up till those two mistakes in rd 3 and rd 6. But if that Pacquiao shows up, that aggression level, head movement, body movement, and throw in the extra intelligence and maturity of today... then that's a fighter who can beat Floyd. Watch the first round of Marquez/Pacquiao fourth fight. I think Pacquiao may come out similarly. They're both going to leave everything on the floor, I feel. Roach said the first round is the most important because this is the round where Pacquiao HAS to 1) set the pace, intensity level, and "become the boss" and 2) get Floyd out of his comfort zone. There's a good chance they have a specific, seperate plan for that round alone just to accomplish those two things that Roach said. If he fights cautiously, that slows the pace down and allows Mayweather to do work and puts the fight where Floyd wants it. I'm not saying Pac should come out as he did in the two Marquez mistakes, but how he fought before those two errors + his ring intelligence of today... he could win.
Pacman is not known for adjustments he only knows aggression and combos, this will be negated by mayweather. The right hand of Floyd will win him the fight there is no getting away from that.
i disagree that if Pacquio tries to 'box' Floyd he will lose terribly. Where are you getting this from? because Floyd has outboxed Canelo, Maidana, Guerrero, Ortiz etc...? they are not Pacquiao. We all exaggerate Floyd's boxing skills, he's very smart and highly skilled but his skill stands out vs inferior opponents. Floyd usually looks better against opponents cause they have slower feet, slower hands, don't match his athleticism and are usually not as smart. The slower hands and feet and inferior athleticism are HUGE and easy for Floyd to outbox someone where he has a clear advantage here. Against Pacquiao, all he has a reach advantage, that's it. They are close in athleticism, hand speed and foot speed although Pac is slightly faster with his feet. You take these physical advantages away and floyd won't be able to outbox Manny like he outboxes others. I'm telling you, it's not a given that Floyd can easily outbox Manny. Manny can frustrate the h out of Floyd by moving a lot, throwing combinations and moving out, using constant head movement, using feints and picking his spots to unleash attacks. DLH did well boxing Floyd and Manny has more skills. Yes DLH had more reach but i don't think this was the key factor that troubled Floyd, DLH fought smart. Don't underestimate Manny's incredible skills...
I can see where you're coming from, but Mayweather's greatest strength is boxing and Pacquiao's greatest strength is his aggressive, strange, style. If Pacquiao tries to box Mayweather, he's trying to beat Mayweather at his game. And boy would it be incredible if he could do it, but... I think when it comes to ceilings, Mayweather boxing at his best is better than Pacquiao boxing at his best.
i think Pacquiao can do what you think he can't. It is my opinion that Pac has just possessed such incredible physical skills that he hasn't relied too much on his mind. If he uses his mind, like he claims he is after JMM KO, he's a better fighter. In years past his raw skills were enough to beat opponents; he could beat opponents by just letting his hands go - too fast, too busy, too quick with his feet. He can't rely on any of this without using his mind against Floyd. Manny may overwhelm Floyd for moments but Floyd will wait to capitalize on mistakes and he sure will. This is what most concerns me actually, manny coming out too aggressive and floyd catching him early with a good left hook and right hand, fight may be over soon. MANNY CANNOT afford bad mistakes early on and he knows it. Roach has stated that he wants Manny to come out strong and win first round but he has also often talked about how smart Floyd , how he sets traps and how Manny has to be careful. Manny will box but be more of the aggressor as-well. It will be a delicate balance.
Very good read could happen but I think they will both come out feeling each other out, with Pac being the busier fighter.
If Pacquiao comes out guns blazing as he should, Maywather will just play it defensively and let Pacquiao shoot his wad for the first couple or rounds. Pacquiao should win those rounds on activity even without being effective. After that, a nearly spent Pacquiao will be in a world of trouble.
You've obviously never been to a fight live have you. Especially pro wrestling those old ladies are LETHAL. Several pro wrestlers have been quite seriously injured by old grannies when they attacked them. Havent you seen that video on UTube where a fighters mother jumps in ring & starts beating his opponent over the head with an umbrella ?? LOL
you could be right, i hope its a good crowd. i don't get why they have to be so greedy to keep the tickets all for vip types. why not us normal folks that would love to see it live. wow verdict in for that scumbag marathon bomber
Because Pacquiao is definitely the type to fatigue... You do realize he has better stamina than Floyd, right? It can easily be proven too. Just look at punches total/fight + punches total/round + punches total/round 1-6 + punches total/round 7-12 + landing % rd 1-6 + landing % 1-7. After you do all that for, say, their past 3 fights or however many. Then you'll see who has the better stamina. It's Pacquiao.
