Picked up the 2nd edition of the new format FIST yesterday (with Vic on cover).

Again looking a much better quality mag than previous - the pics are very good - articles also good, but not sure if there's as many as previous. Must dust off an oldie out and compare.

I've just started a section on training ('Sweat Suits and Performance' in this issue).
If anyone has anything in particular they'd like to hear about let me know. I can't promise anything but if its something that will interest alot of people I might be able to do something on it.

Just picked the new copy of The Fist, its looks bloody sensational and even better with RAGING BULL on the cover. Its about time he got the recognition he deserves. I also liked the way they are doing the World Rankings now and THE FIST top 10 P4P and even more importantly the amount of info on Aussie boxers , it was a good read on Fred Mundraby, he seems in the same mould as Kickett, could be anything.

The new FIST mag is out there - Geale on the cover.

Again looks and reads well. Paul Uphams review of Mundine v Geale is fair and reasonable, and the remainder looks good (haven't read much yet).

There's also fight posters for the upcoming FTA cards on Channel ONE.

Critisisms: Too many entire pages are devoted to full page adds which contain virtually no information or entertainment value (okay the advertiser pays for it but when you see the pages in question you'll probably agree).

I think your very harsh on the boys. the mag looked shithouse in its previous format and contained more info on international unknowns than Aussie fighters. I think the big difference is that its much better paper, better designed and all in FULL COLOUR.

I would rather see ads from companies that support boxing instead of seeing the price going up. Its light years ahead of anyother mag we can get for $7.95.

Keep up the good work boys !!!!

Wasn't bagging it - only the full page adverts with virtually no content - overall it's certainly better than its predecessor. The fact that I buy it each month is my endorsement.

Sorry mate. I thought you were having a go. I thinks its great seeing how diverse some of the companies that advertise in boxing. The Grange always have a lot of sponsors supporting boxing. My bad champ.

    No drama.

The Grange page is fine IMO because it contains pics of their fighters etc. (ie it's somewhat informative).

It's the full page ads that contain only a web address or a single symbol etc that bother me. It amazes me that companies would go to the significant investment of buying a large 'billboard' and then only use a small portion of it. It's a lose-lose for both the reader and advertiser (as distinct from a win-win) IMO.
