In a Land steeped in a long tradition of the fight sports mainly Kickboxing, which flourished in many forms such as Krabi-krabong, Lerdrit, Muay Boran, Muay Chaiya, Silat Pattani and of course the most famous style Muay Thai. Boxing is a relatively new phenomenon. Although it has roots going back to the 1950's with Chamroen Songkitrat and Pone Kingpetch and two of its most successful fighters arose in the 1960's in Chartchai Chionoi and Venice Borkhorsor. It didn't really catch on the way it should until the arrival of a fighter who started his pro career in 1980 who went by the name of Khaosai Galaxy a Super Flyweight whose real name is Sohla Saenghom considered one of the biggest punching little men of all time. unfortunately the majority fighters from The Land Of Smiles happen to be a tad bit on the diminutive side, which means most of the fighters they produce tend to mainly populate the lower weight divisions.

Meet The Boy From The CP Freshmart.
The CP Freshmart is a grocery store chain from Thailand sponsers Boxers and in turn they take the stores name, its the next level of dehumanization in the merging of humans and business, pretty soon we'll all be nothing but a brand to be marketed. but nonetheless here's Knockout.

The most famous of the Freshmart's is Thammanoon Niyomtrong known as: Knockout CP Freshmart.
24 year old Minimumweight from Surin, Thailand who should be called Unanimous Decision CP Freshmart, because he's proving to be a damn good boxer instead of just another Knockout artist.

Teerachai Kratingdaenggym is a 22 year old Welterweight with a 27-0 21 KO's record. Born as Tewa Kiram aka Teerachai or Ekarin, but fighting under the name Teerachai Kratingdaenggym, personally while I hate shortening names he really should go by T-Krat, it would be easier for everybody. Coming from the Thai city of Buriram which is known as The City of Happiness this hard hitting Vicious Thai is a potentially dangerous cherry pick unknown opponent for one of the current stars in the Welterweight division that could upset the apple cart if chosen, or at least come close Kamegai style. While feasting on local talents, he is Thai and they have quite the reputation fot being far tougher fights than they are expected to be. He has a very good left jab, very stiff jab to the body and solid right overhand/hook, and pretty good defense when it comes to slipping punches. So Check Out the Buriram Bomber busting up some poor Thai guys.

I do love me some Thai in the mornings...you've missed a number of my favourites off though.

Obviously Srisaket is hard to not LOVE watching. Guy's a wrecking ball and his beat down of Sato was wonderful whilst stablemate Suriyan is as tough as old boots.

A few lesser known Thai's who have caught my eye are:
    Eaktawan Mor Krunthepthonburi
Stamp Kiatniwat (18 year old with a win over former world title holder Kwanthai Sithmorseng)
Kongputorn CP Freshmart (Boxrec are missing a few of his bouts)
    Kongthara KKP
Kongfah CP Freshmart (who scored a BEAUTIFUL uppercut KO last year)

Contender for 2014 FOTY and Robbery of the year between Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep and Takuya Kogawa. Several rounds were ROTY contenders with the 12th standing out in particular. This bout also shows why I love Kogawa.

I'd suggest marking this topic "Not Suitable for Taka", poor guy has seen so many of his countrymen losing in Thailand over the year. Did you know only 1 Japanese born fighter in history has won a "world" title bout in Thailand, that was Koki Eto who claimed the WBA "interim" Flyweight title in this 2013 FOTY contender.

Think this was tied with the Takashi Miura Vs Sergio Thompson bout for me. Amazing fight.
