The flaws in Ali's game

The problem is he didn't; he threw it anyway and got countered for his trouble. Look at that 15th round against Frazier, for example. When he was in his prime, he was never really caught red-handed.

 

Well, interesting in the fact that the judges were crap but that's about it.

 

That James Slater is hopeless. It was about 10 seconds. His counting is obviously worse than his writing. He once 'wrote' (if that's the word) an article about his 50 best fighters- and there were 52 names.

The Shavers cards weren't too bad. The Norton ones dodgy, the Young ones laughable.

 

I the Young fight was close ,but Young fought very negatively against an undertrained 34 year old Ali who scaled 230 lbs for the fight.Sticking your torso through the ropes to avoid punches possibly turned the judges off,It certainly did me.I saw Young make a C***T out of John Gardner,he was a tricky boxer but not aggressive enough.The Norton fight was a bit like the Hagler Leonard one ,in how close it was,maybe Ali got the benefit of the doubt. I thought he clearly beat Shavers, but with hindsight wish he hadn't fought him.

 

He landed a beautiful uppercut on Ellis and the one that ended Quarry in the rematch wasn't bad.

 

Oh, I didn't realise that scoring rounds because champs were 'undertrained' was a new criterion. :huh

But holding fighters 130 times a fight, often leaning and pressing down on their heads is ok?

 

I love the insinuation that Young's tactics "put the judges off"- as if they were going to score for him anyway.

 

My point is if Young really had the balls to go for the title this was his chance,I thought it was fairly obvious really.Sarcasm is fine.

Leaning back from punches, and throwing very few body shots. On the former, he could get away with that because he was so damn quick. I've seen other fighters try to do what he did, only to get knocked down or knocked out.

There will never be another Ali.

 

So the fight was allready decided before it started?

 

I find the majority of your posts ,in your face ,and negative,with little positive input on any subject. Do you have arguments when you are on your own? Oh, and I'm Not your mate.
For the record Dempsey is my favourite heavy not Ali.
