For all his talent and beautiful boxing, Floyd is hurting the sport for true boxing fans.

Let's face it, Floyd is the current face of boxing. He is currently setting the standards for a lot of things because of this. Though his displays of fantastic boxing help show just how truly sublime this sport can be, his 0 creates a big unintended problem.

Being this "face of boxing", both promoters and fighters tend to mold themselves in some aspects after Floyd. One thing that both Floyd and promoters have discovered? The 0 sells; big time. For casual fans Floyd is really not an exciting fighter, for hardcore fans he is fantastic to watch. In the business of boxing though, you are marketing almost entirely to casuals.

Floyd's biggest selling point to a casual fan is, "Is this going to be the guy that finally beats Mayweather?" The 0 coupled with a cocky attitude equals a huge attraction. Floyd has effectively created a mold for the less than appealing styled fighters to follow on their path to PPV stardom. This same mold doesn't apply to fighters like Pacquiao, as his style is far more appealing to casual fans.

So where's the problem? These fighters realize that to have that same appeal they need a 0. One loss and their marketability is sunk. Because of this, SO MANY fights are not getting made. It's mostly affecting the guys who are B+, A- level fighters. It's become significantly more risky financially to step up and take on the really tough fights than ever before.

This thread sucks. Floyds fights have been more exciting than Pacquiaos last 5. Well Pacquiao getting beat by Marquez was pretty exciting . Floyd fought the best available opponents since he has returned and stayed undefeated. Casual fans love to see Mayweather fight, they wanna see him lose but think he is an amazing fighter. Try finding a casual fan who doesnt enjoy watching his style or give him mad respect for his skills these days. Floyd has won over the people and is loved and supported world-wide. And he isnt done yet, just wait to see what he does next

If you really think a CASUAL fan can appreciate the ring craftsmanship of Floyd Mayweather, you don't know **** about casuals. These people only see heads snapping back, knock downs, and what happens in a slow motion replay. They think Tyson is the greatest HW ever. Floyd's style is not very appealing to casuals. He is selling an image, and it is dependent upon a 0 and an attitude (hence people paying to see him LOSE).

You sound like a deluded *****.

Yeah I really didn't think *****s would have such an issue with this post. I praised the skills and ability of Mayweather, yet I say his style is not very appealing to casuals and they all **** their panties.

If advertised well enough, it don't matter.

    Floyd Mayweather Jr.

    Still P4P King
    Still PPV King
    Still Welterweight King
    Still Team Slick King

Yeah, I suppose so, thats because the other fighters at 154 wont fight each other, I would love Floyd vs Canelo for the Ring/Unification at 154.
