Canelo has improved IMMENSELY since fighting Floyd and that can’t be argued. He was able to be competitive against GGG which secured him an Oscar bought draw and majority decision!

How would last nights Clenelo do against Floyd of a few years back? I think he beats Floyd by TKO late. Mayweather doesn’t have half the chin Gennady does. His chin is ok... but not legendary.

Clenelo is a different beast now days! How he got to this level other than experience... well that’s a different discussion and we’ll just keep this thread clean. No pun intended.

I’m really impressed by Canelo’s chin! ATG stuff imo to be able to take those shots by the best middleweight of the last 20 years! Kudos!

Chin doesn't matter, Canelo has a Stamina problem and Floyd will exploit that. Floyd is a genius in the ring, he knows when to be defensive and when to attack and he himself has faced many counter punchers

    At 160? Drugnelo crushes Mayweather.

Mayweather also drained the hell out of Drugnelo.

No version of Canelo beats Mayweather. Canelo's good, but he has visible flaws. He gets tired and is vulnerable to jabs and uppercuts from what we saw last night. Mayweather is also much faster than GGG.

At 160, the sheer force of Drugnelo's shots (even blocked) would wear Floyd down.

Canelo may have improved since his fight with Mayweather, but I see nothing from him that would make me believe he could have beat Mayweather in his current form. I think Mayweather would still shut him down fairly easy like he did in the first fight. He hasn't improved enough in the areas that cost him that fight.

I only saw the first half of last nights fight, but I thought Canelo looked a lot better than GGG in what I saw. I'll have to watch the entire fight to see how I would have scored it, but it seems obvious to me that some of the fans were letting their bias affect their scoring. Golovkin might be slowing down, but he looked a lot more average than his reputation would suggest when he stepped up in competition against Daniel Jacobs too. The fact is he waited way too long too start fighting the other top guys regardless of who's to blame for it. It's debatable to whether he's just showing his age, or if he was overrated to begin with. I think it's both.

Floyd would never fight him at 160 and wouldn't have to ever.

Well, prime and improved Drugnelo is right now. If you talk about a rematch, you'd have to pick the current version.

Pretty much. I dont believe Canelo was drained in their fight but now he is a middleweight and weight classes are made for a reason. Mayweather would make him look bad for the first rounds until canelo wears him down then its possibly goodnight.

This. Floyd is much faster than GGG and would still be beating Canelo to the punch. Also, Floyd's timing and defense would still neutralize most of Canelo's offense.

Canelo hasn't really improved since the Floyd fight, since he was already an elite fighter. Canelo even before he fought Floyd would've always beat guys like Khan, Liam Smith, Kirkland, and Chavez Jr. Also, even back in 2013 Canelo still would've went the distance with Golvkin due to his experience, chin, and counter punching ability.
