I rate Pac highly that why. It's going to be a tremendous win for Floyd and will catapult him to ATG status in the top 10.

Floyd has proved little at WW and needs a victory vs Pac.

    Floyd @ Welterweight = 6 fights since 11/19/2005

Between three fighters, Sharmba, Hatton and JMM they had 2 previous bouts at Welterweight COMBINED before facing Floyd.
He has never stopped a Welter in his career that had more than 2 previous bouts at WW.

Sharmba Mitchell - 2nd fight at WW against Floyd - No business fighting Floyd @ 147 as Mitchell was KO'd in his last fight at 140 vs Kosta.

Zab Judah - No noteable WW victories.

Carlos Baldomir - Mayweather's best WW victory - Baldomir was 35 had many WW loses to unknown fighters in his prime.

Ricky hatton - 2nd fight at WW - prior WW bout was a close one vs Collazo

JMM - Never fought above 135 in his career. First WW bout vs Floyd

Shane Mosley - off longest layoff @ 39 years old.

*Floyd has 1 KO in 6 WW bouts (16% KO ratio) Was hurt against 2 of the 6 fighters (Judah right hook, Mosley round 2).

If people think Mayweather has lost a step foot speed wise they need to re watch the Marquez fight.

I've seen this thread about for a couple of days now, but only just thought about what the threadstarter may be saying.

So the Mayweather who beat Manfredy is the only version of Mayweather (weight being irrelevant) that would beat the 2011 version of Pacquiao. Is that what the thread is about?

Because if it is...I could name more than one version (weight being irrelevant) that would beat Pacquiao.

No it is saying in that general time frame you can see the difference in speed and quickness and the ability to throw more punches. Floyd has tried to make people believe he has maintained his speed by fighting older slower opponents. When he faces Manny he will be outgunned, and only at best on an equal condtioning level but most important be the slower fighter for the first time in his career.

He was slower over the first six rounds of the Judah fight also.

I see the general thrust of your argument, but there's no guarantee Floyd of the Manfredy fight has the chin to deal with what Manny would be landing on him, and even if this is likely to be more of a boxing match than a brawl, I'd hesitate to underestimate the role physicality could still play in this fight. Manny IS still a physical force, even if his speed is what catches people's eye. I can't agree with the idea that a Floyd who hadn't even matured to the point of dealing with Castillo very effectively doesn't get overwhelmed to a certain degree by Pacquiao, let alone the legit small welter Manny has grown into being.

    My thoughts:

*YOu don't need to run around the ring much to beat emmanuel's AZZ. Just AZZk Marquez and Morales. Knowing how to step out of distance at the right moment is important due to how emmanuel likes to lunge in.

*emmanuel has had his workrate controlled twice in the past by a lesser fighter than Floyd. $ is the King of slowing down fights.

*Mosley, who has a legendary resume, said in an interview that Floyd has the fastest feet out of everyone he's fought.

*Floyd beats emmanuel's AZZ on the outside with his jab and will be uppercut happy on the inside. Mid-range or no man's land is where emmanuel does his work.
