Sugar Ray Robinson Henry Armstrong Chris Eubank Johnny Tapia Which, if any have ATG chins? Which depended on skills or speed as opposed to pure toughness? Detailed input appreciated.
Also, Jimmy Young's. Only stopped twice, once on a horrific cut against Cooney (Who was beating the **** out of Young and couldn't affect him nearly as much as he did Norton and Lyle) and the first time as a complete novice against ATG banger Earnie Shavers.
srr had a solid chin not quite ATG chin but aot better than average armstrong chin was just as hard as granite eubank had a pretty solid chin about the same as SRR cant really choos ethe other guys as i havent seen enough
They all had very good chins, championship level easily. You could specualte on any of them but i would think that would be nitpicking at its finest. Robinson took some fine shots but it wasnt a granite chin as the knockdowns show, the recuperative powers he posesses were something else though. Armstrong's chin was very great, his style meant he took a lo of the edge off his opponent's shots, but it also meant he walked into some good ones at times, took them in his stride. I always thought when i was a kid that Eubank had a great chin, but it's not as if it was proven to the point of an elite level chin, like say Lamotta (most proven chin ever!!). Tapia had a very very good chin and that showed later on in his career when he altered his style.
robinson had that much going for him his chin never gets a mention. he never got counted out in 85 amateur and 201 pro fights and thats not bad going. eubank had the most solid chin of a british fighter i can think of armstrong must have had a solid chin as his record suggests and gave weight away in a lot of his welter-weight fights
