If your wanting to know which are "BETTER" then its a short list. I would say Jones, Leonard, and maybe Whitaker. In terms of talent Floyd is far ahead of guys like hagler, hearns, tyson and hopkins. Will he go down as a greater fighter then any of those guys??? I would say as of right now most likely not. But should Floyd come back and pick up a couple more high profile wins then he could be seen as greater then some of those fighters.

 

For the sake of argument Donald Curry might have had more talent than Hagler and Hearns, but we know who the greater fighters are. Hagler and Hearns. Takes more to be a great fighter. Although I think some Floyd fans are mistaking him for Pernell Whitaker.

 

What are you talking about?? the question was were any of the following fighters BETTER then floyd not greater, which is a different question all together.

 

Ability wise only Leonard, Whitaker and Roy Jones are better than him, legacy wise and being greater than them on that list? no.

 

All have fights people will talk about for years to come. Can't say the same for Mayweather jr.
(Except the ones that have yet/Will never happen)

Maybe they're not all better fighters, but they're all greater fighters because Floyd never chose to live up to his potential.

On a sidenote, I rewatched Pernell Whitaker - Oscar de la Hoya some time ago and I thought that an over the hill Whitaker did at least as good, if not better, against a peak ODLH than a prime Floyd Mayweather did against a faded ODLH, regardless of the official outcomes. Just a thought.

 

Sorry folks, but Jones losing to Antonio Tarver 3 times (yes I said it, three times) tarnishes his early career.

In terms of "all-around better" I have a hard time picking any of them. If I had to I would say Sweat Pea maybe by a narrow margin.

 

I vote for Sugar Ray & Whitaker, I rank Hagler on the same level as Mayweather so opted not to vote for him, others on the list are very close to him also, he isnt miles ahead of any of them if at all depending on opinion.

This is stupid. I'd have Jones, Sweet Pea and Leonard as better over time but come on... Everyone on that post is gonna get picked eventually by some and the haters will pick all of them. so the 'poll' will say they're all better. This is totally biased against Floyd. If Your gonna do a poll do one where its multiple choice for each ie, Floyd better than Jones, Jones better than Floyd or both the same.
