We all know the commonly mentioned guys with granite chins like McCall, LaMotta, Hagler etc. But who are forgotten granite chins? My two nominations are Winky Wright and Mike Tyson
Evander Holyfield would've been on the glassjaw list had the internet and ESB been in force during the 80s and 90s. But Evander could take one hell of a whooping.
I think Evander's chin has always been well respected. He has only been stopped twice, once by body shots from Toney when he was over the hill, and by Bowe when he had a heart attack, Bowe was like 30 lbs more than him anyway. He has been in there with Lewis twice, Foreman, Dokes, Bowe x3 I think his chin has always been respected, especially since he is really a cruiserweight.
Yeah, probably so, but I think the majority of us realize **** like that happens. Ali got knocked down against Henry Cooper when he was showboating like a moron, but I don't think any person who wasn't fully ******ed would dare call him a glass jaw. Margarito got put on his ass many times as a kid, but had a jaw of granite when he came a grown man. Sometimes **** like that happens.
Holyfield had an iron chin. Came up a division and took massive shots off big punchers time and time again.
Wayne McCullough may have the best chin of any bantamweight in history, and is hardly given credit. This was the guy who broke Naseem Hamed's massive KO streak, took everything he could dish out, was never hurt. Took a serious beating from Morales, never once appeared seriously hurt. Morales called him crazy after the fight, he was in amazement.
I think Rocky Lockridge deserves a shout. Saw him take some bombs, only ever stopped once to Juan Laporte early.
That was one of the hardest, flushest counter hooks off the ropes you'll ever see. Truly one of those punches that would of knocked almost anyone out.
Paulie Malignaggi may not have any power, but he has a damn good chin it seems. His two fights with Juan Diaz really showcased his chin.
