    Nice ones. :good

I like the Fenech-Callejas pick. That Fenech indeed would have been hard for any featherweight to get the better of. He was possessed that day.

Fenech himself named it his finest ever performance.

Which fight was it for JT, the first or the second? I think the second was a little better for Pedroza, though both fights could have went either way imo.

And yet Clancy also mentions that Whitaker won the fight even without the point deductions so Whitaker must have been doing something right in there by his estimations, even if it wasn't with the jab. Mind you, all Whitaker landed was pretty much the jab, so go figure...

I don't agree Vasquez had the harder or better jab though. I don't really remember Vasquez's jab being a factor in the fight at all. His body punching and physicality in the clinches, sure, but not his jabs.

Well, Norris had a big punch too, and so I think it could work both ways. Vasquez obviously had a much better jaw, but it wasn't impenetrable.

**** lol, positive it was the first. Close but fair was the general feel. Don't worry, i haven't forgot your asks per mag cards.

Actually could you put down your list here of fight scores you are intrigued about, i will paste them somewhere. I am soon to go thru all my books looking for an article that states Gene Tunney had a big impact on boxing moving forward in some ways, or way. I think it would be good fodder for this forum if i can find it. GREAT fodder actually, sure to get some lively debate happening. If i find enough of your scores i will actually make a full post so everyone can see at once what the general press felt.

As I see it, the 5 most invincible specimens at their absolute best...

    1-Sugar Ray Robinson @ 147
2-Muhammad Ali vs Williams, Terrell, Folley
3-Roy Jones Jr. vs Griffin II
    4-Roberto Duran @ 135
5-George Foreman vs Frazier, Norton :yep

    Honorable mentions:

    Joe Louis vs Schmeling II
    Prime Marvin Hagler
    Mike Tyson vs Berbick, Spinks

JCV's jab was certainly not as consistent but much harder. He was rocking Whitaker with the jab alone. Clancy mentions it twice, actually, but then again, Clancy has been known to contradict himself- or logic- times before and after.

This fight was a classic case of the pursuer vs. the pursued. And I believe the pursuer did more than enough. It was an utter sham-job not even made palatable by the bought-for scoring.

Cheers mate. The Tunney article should be good. Please share when you find it :good

About the cards I'm interested in from fights, I'd pretty much like to hear about how the press had it for EVERY close fight

Might be a good idea for a separate thread where we can collate press scores for tight fights.

    Fights like Rosario-Camacho, Rosario-Davis, Rosario-Randall I, Spinks-Davis, Spinks-Holmes II, Pedroza-Laporte, Pedroza-Taylor, Zarate-Pintor, Benitez-Curry I, Rosario-Ramirez I, Ramirez-Arguello, Viruet-Dejesus, Curry-Starling I & II, Nelson-Martinez I, Haugen-Camacho I etc etc.

    BRING IT ON :D

To cut a long story short Dad Cec got son Dean thru much pressure to kill the guy that lived with his estranged wife. Dean was found not guilty but later came forward and confessed. It's a freaky story, Cec was borderline insane, used to trail the boys running in the car and if they didn't keep going they'd plain get run over.

Just tragic stuff JT. Apparently Dean turned born again Christian before confessing?

Mate, she'll be on all next week. I know i have plenty on quite a few of these, some very easily found. I've got Starling - Curry II broken down round by round so i'm sure you will delight in that one, let alone the rest :D

I know for a fact i've got round by round for Rosaio - Ramirez I too, somewhere. I can picture the cover now. Boxing Illustrated either had it a draw or Ramirez by one point. The latter i reckon. Gotta run now but will start tonight or tomorrow night - getting a bit stale and need something new!

Actually first heard about the case when doing a Uni subject on the pyschological aspects involved in criminal law believe it or not. Freaked me right out.
