That's interesting. I will definitely look into that.

Speaking of which, that brings up a new way of looking at this.

Are there any really old fighters who are still well enough off that they would be able to do a radio interview on the telephone?

That would be the ultimate scoop.

Sparred with Joe Louis and fought Rocky Marciano.

It would be almost like getting Max Schmelling before it was too late.

Jenna, Rumsfeld, i'd like to make a suggestion for Paulie Ayala. One of the unsung heroes of Boxing. I think he would make an excellent guest for your show. He's a very interesting character and a complete gentleman in and out of the ring. He does tremendous work for various charities. Just a good guy and a real credit to boxing.

I said it before, that Mike Rossman, a very interesting and difficult sort of guy, would be an intrigueing guest. He's not the nicest guy in the world, but that would be no problem for the great interviewers of "On the Ropes".

    Maybe Carmine Basilio.

    Definitely Demarco I think.

that dude is interesting man. Ask him about his training for bute, about his improvements as a fighter (specifics), about Bute's weaknesses, about his boxing background, about his brother who is a fighter, about the super 6, about if he could take Abraham's best shot, would he want to rematch Kessler.

He is well spoken too. Would make a great guest.

I'm trying to look into this. Not sure if I'll have any luck finding a contact, but I will certainly try my best.

    Guys you gotta have on:

Tommy Hearns (if only to complete the trifecta).

Oscar De La Hoya (having rethought the possibility that maybe he'd be "too big for his britches" to do an online radio show...looking at some of those names he'd have to have a pretty inflated ego to think he was above that company...plenty of discussion fodder between his fighting and promoting careers...and you could put him under the hotlamp regarding his "extracurricular activities")

Emanuel Augustus - he's seen and done it all, and should be easy to schedule since he's finally retired for good.

Donald Curry - criminally omitted from the HOF, interesting life and career.

Joey Archer - same exact byline as Curry, actually, word for word.

David Tua - on the comeback trail - fiercely and credibly this time; and a great interview, very cool, easy-going and quick-witted guy. Will be ripe with stories dating back to the 90's HW scene.

Was Robert The Ghost Guerrero's appearance before or after his win over Klassen (don't see him on the list there...)? If it was before it'd be great to have him back on. Hell, it would anyway. Well-spoken, and easy to root for - an overachiever who's worked hard to turn his career around more than once now.

Steven Luevano - another overachiever, and a bit underexposed considering his accomplishments - has a big date next month with JuanMa Lopez...not sure if that's enough lead time to book him.

You guys haven't yet had a high-profile referee (or any referee?) to my recollection...what's Frank Capuccino up to? :D

Don't know if he has been named yet, but Paul Spadafora would be an interesting guy to interview.

IB, just to give you a quick rundown...

I have tried and will continue trying. So far, I've been unable to land a contact.

Have tried, but can probably try harder.

We actually had him on already!
    :good

Will look into these two next year.

I suspect this one will happen at some point.

It was after. I am certain I can get him back in the future.

    :think

I've wanted to get a referee, actually!

I will see what I can do.

With the holidays coming up, it's probably going to be tough to get any high profile guys beyond the next two weeks.

For the record, I have tried pretty hard on this one but have had no luck.

    Will keep him in mind.
