There's something sneaky about the cockroach, he's got an eye for things. I remember before Pacman-ODLH so many people thought Pacquaio was going to get crushed and that he was fighting too far beyond his size, but Pacman annihilated the Golden Boy. Now Khan is a tricky situation, because he isn't p4p number 1, and hasn't fought the kind of guys Pacquaio has fought (or even sparred). But if you compare the last few years, Barrera and ODLH seem to be sharing a similar trend (losing to the equal/better fighters, beating the lesser fighters). Barrera's last fight was against a guy who was 1-7-1 at the time (now 1-8-1), and before that Sammy Ventura who was 25-20. In 2007 he lost to JMM and Manny Pacquiao. Like the Pacman-ODLH fight, Roach knows the opponent well, and this time he's going to be in Khan's corner (unlike the last fight vs Oisin ***an). Trust the Freddy Roach Hunch. Advantage Khan.
Not so sure....This is the Freddy Roach that trained Tyson for his KO loss to Danny Williams, and Hopkins for his loss to Calzaghe. Money? Im sure Amir Khan is not paying him in hugs.
Coaches mold fighters, and its up to the fighters how to emulate the game plan. It can either go bad with cases such as the coach didn't laid a good plan or training, or they didn't perform it as commanded. Styles makes fights, But trainers makes the fighter into something. Btw I don't believe in hunches or superstitious. It's what the fighter brings in to the ring.
I take Roach's predictions very seriously...except when he's talking about his own fighters. You can't reasonably expect him to have considered predicting Khan to lose. We'll see come tonight.
Barrera stated that although Roach is a good trainer, he hit the lottery with Pacman. I agree with Barrera, the Pacman is an exceptional talent, Roach just had to make a few adjustments, but the talent was there. As far as Khan, we are yet to find out how good the kid really is.
This is why I see Khan as the favourite. Roach would not have taken this fight if he didnt think Khan would win. He knows Barrera' style and must have seen enough from Khan to suggest that he has enough to deal with the faded legend
That's why Roach and Pac is very successful is that they have been training for a long time. Their bond is already unbreakable. Roach is suited for Pac's aggressive style and Pac follows every single detail Roach has to offer. Reason why Roach and the others failed. It's the harmony, You can't just tell a great boxer like Hopkins to fight something aggressive. You can't just tell a longing Dela Hoya to utilize his Jab if he can't throw it anymore. It's like saying look right and left at the same time. Let's just wait if the Harmony with Khan and Roach will be successive.
