Just heard that Ward's camp is filing complains about a San Francisco venue. It's too far away. They complain about the stress Ward would have to undergo in case his bycycle had a puncture across the bridge. Not to mention the risk of coming down with acrophobia.yikes
:rofl:rofl:rofl I don't think Froch would complain about a fight in Vegas tbh. I think he'd relish the opportunity.
Name me one fight that Ward has fought in oakland, where the scorecards were controversial. To the point where he would have lost in a neutral venue. Go ahead.
You have to just love Froch, the guy will go anywhere for a fight. For him to fight 3 of his 4 fights away is rediculous given he was WBC champion!!! Its a little obvious that Showtime want Ward to win the tourny by giving him all his fights at home. They seem to be bending backwards to make him happy. This should be in neutral venue but Froch seems happy to fight in Vegas or any big US venue so its all good. I just hope it wont be in Wards school backyard in Oakland....
MSG is currently undergoing some serious redevelopment and I dont think it is due to re open until the middle of November so unless there not planning on fighting for 6 months it's almost guaranteed it will be in Vegas.
I'm sure I heard the englisg commentators mention the finals being in LV. However, I having the fight in the UK at a football (soccer) ground would be just as lucrative. Only downside is that it would be shown in the us as 'exclusive' as opposed to 'live' and like a poister previously said, LV is where stars are made.
Phase 1 will be done by mid-October. NBA starts at the end of October, and they have to be ready to play pre-season there. So it'll be ready. I don't even think the Theater at MSG is being renovated at all, so if they're having it in there (where they had Khan/Malinaggi) then there's no issue with the Garden at all. Bring it to NYC fellas!!
Agreed, apart from the odd headbutt the cards were all good, however you seem to be missing the point - how easy it is being made for ward? Do you realise how hard some fighters find it to perform at there best when travelling to fight in foreign countries? The advantage of hometown support? Put froch in front of 20,000 or more at home and it is deffo an advantage. Do you not agree this is the case for ward too? Not to mention lenient officials that is no guarantee when fighting in Germany, Denmark etc? Also it has to be said wards route to final has been made nice n easy for him. All of this leads me to believe that ward being as good as he is should have had to face up to the aforementioned factors that can and do affect fighters performances on the night. And I think you are kind of simplifying matters with your argument.
The theater only seats 5600. Hopefully the attendance will be much closer to 15K for the finals of a major tournament like this.
