I was no saint when I was younger either, but I think I'm a good guy now. There's a lot that could be said about what I was and what I used to do that doesn't really have any relevance to what I am and what I do now.

People grow up, if they're lucky.

If you heard Teddy just a few times you may bet his opinion is more biased than almost anyone's else.

I do not know (and neither you) whether the story about carrying a gun with intent to murded is true or not. If it is true, he is a maniac, otherwise he is a liar (and there is enough evidence left to say he is still a maniac anyway). That is why I would rather believe Lalonde than him.

What you said about growing up is true in general, still, Atlas' "progress" with Povetkin makes me doubt if he matured as a trainer either.

He picks his battles, and knows who to be a gangster around with. Tyson was 15, imagine Tyson as an adult, that would not have gone over well........ Talk is cheap, I know cats are the real deal and they are normal 9-5 looking family men.

This guy is a joke begging for attention or to be taken as what a real Don King like promoter is like.

Word. Atlas a ****ing caveman at best. He's accomplished, but the beneficiary of fortuitous timing and circumstances and a world easy to exploit. The way he hypes himself in his book is purely comical.

No it's not legal to seek someone with a loaded gun in your hands with the intention of killing them. The thing is, Atlas could just say what he wrote in the book was fiction and nobody could prove otherwise. In the US, you are innocent until proven guilty. Sometimes even admitting to a crime isn't enough to prove you are guilty of it.

Additionally, I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations would be passed on that crime. If you commit a crime and you're not caught and charged with it within a number of years (usually 4-7) then you can never be charged for that crime, even if you admit to it and show ample evidence that you did it. Of course, there is no statute of limitations on some crimes, such as murder, so I'm not sure if that would apply in this case.

Either way Atlas could just say he lied so he wouldn't be charged with anything.

Atlas is a gangster with anyone and he would most definitely put a gun up to Tyson's head today as quick as he did then. Whatever you want to say about the man, if you think he doesn't walk it just like he talks it then you haven't been paying attention.

If anyone here thinks Atlas is all talk and no game then they are wrong. Atlas's view points on things may be controversial, but he calls them like he sees them and sticks to his guns. He could destroy just about anyone here in a street fight, despite him being in his 50's and not being an accomplished fighter.

Atlas also does a lot of good charity work and has the backing of many fighters, which is more than most people in boxing who are seen as good people can say.

Yeah real tough guy bringing a gun to a fistfight... with a fifteen year old... real tough. But he can destroy most people in a street fight... riiiighht.

You can argue that people grow up but Atlas was acting like an ass and getting into fights with people well into his 40s. He's an uneducated, confrontational dimwit who has benefitted from aligning himself with some very high profile people throughout his life and using those associations to sell himself. He still uses his platform to act irresponsibly by spreading rumors and lies he has "heard" without divulging sources. Thats pretty dangerous for a supposedly unbiased commentator on a supposedly unbiased sports news show.

I stand by my ascertion that without Tyson nobody would know who Atlas is. He knows it, I know it, and most other people know it as well. Pretty pathetic that he constantly to this day tries to tear Tyson down when he should be kicking up a goodly portion of his monthly pay to the man who made his name.

I don't like the fact that Teddy tears down Tyson at every opportunity either, but I understand why he does it, and I don't act like Teddy is some kind of ***** when he's obviously not just out of loyalty to Mike Tyson.

As far as Teddy bringing a gun, he wasn't trying to have some contest of honor with Mike. He was trying to tell him to stop ****ing with that girl or he was gonna die, PERIOD. I think he got his point across.

Apparently he didnt because he got himself fired and spent the next several years in limbo while Tyson went on to become the most famous man on the planet, a sports icon, and for what its worth continued his mysoginistic ways. I think deep down (well, its not even that deep down) Teddy resents the fact that he hates Tyson and wishes he had never been successful but owes everything he has to the fact that his name is tenuously tied to Tyson formative years.
