    It's a modern phenomenon.
Vastly over-rating modern fighters, compared to the standards of the past.
Tyson Fury is a beneficiary of this.
Fury has had 5 world title fights, 3 against the same guy. His resume is NOT that of an ATG. Not even close.
He has NOT defeated the leading lights of his own generation - far from it - to prove he is currently the best of his own era.
Instead of taking part in meaningful fights to prove his status as number one, he wasted time fighting a pointless Chisora trilogy and engaging in a bout with a boxing debutant that NO-ONE asked for. He faced the likes of Wallin - an unknown - instead of immediately rematching Wilder.
Fury has not fought elite competition for years. He looked terrible in his last fight - he is declining steeply.
I am not trying to knock Fury. He has some good wins (albeit against an old Wlad. And a protected puncher). He has displayed occasional ATG traits But nowhere near enough.
He is vastly overrated, in terms of accomplishments. I genuinely think Usyk will run rings around him and this bizarre, head scratching Fury era - where he has not conducted himself in the slightest as a champion or anywhere near enough to be considered an ATG (yet still been elevated highly) - will be over.
Roll on the 18th and his proper place in history will be decided

Fury hasn't ever been about consistency that's why people love to hate him - But what he consistently has done is perform when required against his "toughest" opponents, in a manner that looks like a blowout. Usyk is in deep trouble.

I think Fury is going to win in dominant fashion. Simply has more ways to win as opposed to Usyk who will just use movement but that's only going to get him so far.

Hey miniq. Love you as a poster, even if I disagree with your opinion.
Agree he is inconsistent. Tends to fight to the level of his opposition. But in 'rising to the occasion' that is a low bar (consistently)... Wlad and Wilder.
I do think Fury has talent. But is elevated beyond his achievements. Do you agree he is overrated as the best of his generation and an ATG based on resume ?

Fury is the best of this generation by a long shot and on his night can beat any man in history. Hardly an overrated ATG. A physical, mental and sexual giant.

i agree. i think usyk is going to embarrass fury. and i think that would have happened to a fury that would have taken his training serious his entire career. moving great for his size does not equal a great moving hw, at elite levels. and usyk is elite. fury has never been elite. its just that there hasnt been any elite competition at hw for many years to expose that reality.

Me be thinking you've DQd 3-6 of Tyson Furys title fights. The 3 10 rounders ok I see your point. But you're DQing 3 of the 12 rounders too. So we're writing off 6 total title fights.

Not disputing the overall premise of your post btw just disputing the whole "Fury has had 5 world title fights". When hes had as many as 11.

This is especially glaring given his opposition is Usyk who has 5 total HW fights and just 3 world title fights against 2 opponents. Usyk is probably the best HW of this era. But hes not going to have an amazing HW resume. Every top HW of this era is going to be incredibly polarizing historically. Despite taking a few years off and blatantly ducking opponents Fury has had a decent number of title fights.

It doesn't even need an elite one to beat him.
Replace Ngannou fight with someone decent and the judges wouldn't have been able to safe him.

Look at the top 10 or top 15. Plenty of solid names, and Fury has fought essentially only Wilder, and just now Usyk, while ducking him for almost 2 years.

Joshua, Parker, Zhang, Hrgovic, Sanchez, Joyce, Dubois, Anderson, Bakole. And he hasn't fought anyone. We can add Ruiz to the list as well, even though he is heavily inactive.

He debuted in 2008, and has just 6 World Title fights ...
One of the worst resume in terms of top 10 opponents as well.

Lying, ducking and weaving, and wasting everyone times, and then his fans wonder why people don't like him. :D

He had exactly 6 World Title fight. And 3 of them are against the same opponent, and the 4th is against Chisora, a guy he already beat twice.

And when mentioning Usyk name and stats, don't forget to add the CW, as it's not like Usyk has just 5 fights in his career.

Also the reason why Usyk had just so little fights at HW is mainly cause of Fury wasting his time and ducking him over and over.

Klitschko, Seferi(10 rounder), Pianeta(10 rounder), Wilder, Schwarz, Wallin, Wilder, Wilder, Whyte, Chisora, Ngannou(10 rounder). Thats 8 to 11 title fights.

I said "HW". When being rated at HW its a fair point much how it was with Haye.

Usyk might have had 6 HW fights instead of 4 if Fury didn't waste his time. Either way it was going to be a polarizing career.

Seferi, Pianeta, Shwarz, Wallin are NOT TITLE FIGHTS dude. You realize that Fury popped dirty and was banned for 2 years, and he was also stripped ?
What are this imaginary title fights ?

His title fights are against Klitschko, Wilder 3x. Chisora and Whyte. Ngannou wasn't title fight also. And he has the embarrassing 3 title defenses. Wilder, Chisora and Whyte ....

Usyk become Undisputed at CW in less than 2 years, collecting every single belt essentially from different opponent. Eh he won 2 against Gassiev, but that was in a tournament, where he fought 3 opponents in title fights.

And Usyk with just 20 fights, has 10 title fights.
Fury has 35 fights, with just 6, and 3 of them are against the same fighter. 1 against a fighter he already beat 2 time.
