I wonder whats gonna happen with HBO now the money man has switched? It looks like the Broner vs. Malignaggi fight is on Showtime to. I don't know whether Broner has made the switch also?

HBO will have to phone the Klitschko's up at this rate.

I honestly thought it was a negative performance, Mand. Admittedly I didn't properly sit down to watch it (it was on and I'd watch around 30 seconds, then go back to working, then watch another 30 seconds etc). What I did see I didn't enjoy. I had no problem with Dirrell's performance against Froch, or Haye's against Valuev, but I have to be honest and say I didn't enjoy the Rigo fight at all. Often people mis-use the term running but at one point in the fight it almost became literal. If I remember right, at one point Rigo pretty much had his back turned and was jogging away. He did what he had to do to win, and deserves credit for making a world class fighter look so bad, but it just surprises me a bit at how much people enjoyed it.

As for your Opening post, I think the main positive is boxnation. We're getting to see a lot of great fights from the US. My favourite this year has been Rios/Alvarado 2. The thing is, in boxing things can change very quickly. One day we could be talking about boxing being in such great health, loads of exciting prospects, a lot of big fights etc and 6 months later it could be all doom and gloom. You only have to look at the likes of Frankie Gavin, Tony Jeffries, and James de Gale to see how things can change. At one point people were saying they'll have great careers, win world titles, become big stars etc, but their careers so far have been underwhelming. Sorry, don't mean to be all negative:lol:

Have to disagree on this one mate, I felt Dirrell's display was marred but his constant holding and spoiling. I loved how Rigo fooled with Donaire a top class fighter. He beat him from all ranges and in every way pretty much. I didn't feel it was a negative display. He could of done more TBH but Rigo likes to box in the pure form. Thought it was mighty impressive but dunno people don't seem to agree with me .

I've seen Pernell jog and strut with back to opponent. I give Rigo a bly on this occasion.

maybe for the long term future of boxing some sort of new scoring system should be devised to try an eliminate incompetance, corruption and lunacy of the judges.

god knows what this should be though???

I think British boxing is doing well but I'm worried slightly with the issues with promoters struggling to get their fighters out and struggling to get TV contracts.

Obviously both Franks and Ricky Hatton are struggling to get their fighters televised regular appearances and I'm a bit worried about Matchroom having too much control of British boxing.
