Heavyweight scene is bleak in America we’ll have to adopt a fighter like England did with Lennox to root for.

 

Saw the same article. Looked like a pro career was the most likely next step.

And who knows? The guy might end up being able to fight in the Olympics after all anyway, considering the weird rules about amateurism that we see these days.

 

Yeah, with him it's more about shitting the bed multiple times after all that hype, had he never turned pro his rep would still be great.
That said, Torrez has different style that should translate a lot better to the pro ranks.

 

Heavyweight scene does look bleak in the US as others have said but that's really been the case for a long time. Sure we've had Wilder and Martin as title holders but Martin won the title on an injury and folded vs AJ and Wilder's reign if we are honest was not one that has garnered much distinction he won't go down as a great and will be one of many lesser regarded and remembered heavyweight title holders.

Reality is we can't expect much from the US heavyweight scene but that's what happens when you don't invest in the grass roots of the sport.
