I guess that it might be true in case Dirrell loses to DeGale. But it will have to wait, because the cards are still the game right now.

The bookies have James DeGale as the favorite (1,66 to Dirrell's 2,2). Slightly surprised by the odds.

    Great post.

Andre Dirrell was my favourite going in to the Super Six. A fight against Ward would have been great. But I was told last month that they were scheduled to face each other, but neither camp made any effort to get things underway.

I haven't seen Andre's fight with Carl since I saw it live, but I couldn't believe the decision.

Where does Carl Froch go from here though, if he doesn't retire? Because it seems that Kessler is out of the equation, and I can't seem him fighting Ward again or Andre Dirrell, and we know he won't fight DeGale. So it'll be an interesting 12 months in the division.

    Ha!

    Yes, I remember.

He's really come on strong since those early channel 5 days.

Thanks for the link, I enjoyed it.

Neither of them actually started the training camp despite the fight coming close. It seemed that they already knew that they were not going to fight each other.

I actually bothered to re-watch it, and imo Froch won 4 rounds at most and you could easily argue for less.

Well, WBA ordered Froch vs. Ward II so we'll see what happens. I guess that they will try to arrange that Chavez Jr fight, but imo that fight doesn't bring much significance other than potentially being entertaining. I could see Froch having 1 or 2 more fights and then retiring.

Upcoming period in the division will be very interesting. Kessler is gone, Froch is on his way out as well and Abraham probably doesn't have much more time left either. With Ward coming back, we could assume that he will be the main player alongside Dirrell/DeGale winner. Then we could have some kind of the grand final match for the SMW supremacy. There are a couple of prospects arriving as well, so it will be interesting.

DeGale: I'm facing the better of the brothers
Speaks highly of Dirrell. Going to be a great fight.

Wondering if they have set a date and venue yet.

Sorry for the late reply mate.

Great post, I agree entirely with everything you've written.

I can't wait for the fight now. I just hope that neither guy has overtrained. I know DeGale has taken a week off recently, but by the time the fight comes around, he'll have been training hard for an awful long time.

Andre Dirrell returns on October 17th in Fairfax, Virginia.

The opponent will be Blake Caparello. Caparello is on a 2-wins streak since losing to Sergey Kovalev in 2014. He is also a former IBO light-heavyweight champion and has a record of 21-1-1.

Andre Dirrell is obviously coming back from a close UD loss to James DeGale for the IBF title. Solid opponent for a comeback fight. It would be good if he managed to squeeze in another fight this year, but it's hardly to be expected.

If Badou Jack pulls a mini-upset and defeats Groves, that could be a relatively easy route for Dirrell to finally win a belt. Then he could set his sights to either rematch DeGale or break some illusions surrounding Andre Ward.
