Since I've been posting on ESB we have had a plethora of threads about all that is wrong with boxing; why it isn't more popular, doesn't get more coverage, isn't main stream, et.

Personally I think a good deal of the blame for boxings lack of main stream appeal lies with the major promoters. They do not seem to put any kind of emphasis on bringing in new fans. Logic says that if you want to make a fighter into a main stream star, you have to put him in front of a main stream audience.

What, if anything, do the big promoters do to try to feature top fighters on shows like Letterman, Leno, The Daily Show, Konan O'Brien, et? I can't remember the last time I saw a fighter as a guest on a main stream talk or variety show. Such appearances would give a large audience a chance to get acquainted with top fghters. The ones people like, they'll want to see in action. Do promoters just ignore this idea?
