Luis Franco won by KO in 4 rds against Adolfo landeros...this fight was a step back in quality of opposition since Landeros has lost most of his last fights.But at least he keeps himself busy( are you listening Rigo?)

 

Very good , I like Franco a lot , he has a style perfectly suited for the Pro game . Not fighting live bodies yet but at least he's been busy . I think he should stay at featherweight so he can take over once Gamboa move up . Peace .

 

Rigo would like to be fighting as much as Franco but the problem is that a lot of fighters are running away from him , in any case his team has to do something , he can't afford to be idle for long at his age , he's wasting away his talent ( IMO ) . Peace .

 

At his age he needs to b a little bit more bussy, still he needs to fight live bodies, a tomatoe can would do nothing for him, actually might work against him, he needs to keep sharp and only a good opponent will do that.

i have a friend training with Castanano(el tigre),same gym along despaigne,jhonson...he says despaigne is very nice guy,very polite and humble but is past his prime and will be hard to see him as a solid contender.

 

Must agree about that, Despaigne a good fighter but look old. His fight against Miranda did not make me any wiser. He startet good but slowly he let Miranda more and more into the fight.

 

Yeah that may be but I still think he can get a title , Despaigne reminds me a lot of Salido in a way , both are come forward fighters with good chins with the only diference that Salido is a brawler and Despaigne likes to box more , wich in his case I think it's a mistake , he has great defense skills and could benefit from a bit more aggression in his bouts ( IMO ) . Lara and Despaigne already in big non-title tv-fights. Maybe thats what the future gonnna be. Cubans good fighters but do not sell many tickets or PPV. Promotors prefer fighters (champions) with solid fanbase. So do the organisations like WBA-WBC- IBF
We gonna see many cubans in titlefighs but i guess we see more cubans in big non-titlefights.

Gamboa has established himself as a fan favorite,because of his aggressive style and skills.Before Pacquiao i dont think phillipines had a huge fanbase,i dont think Penalosa,Espinosa and company would ever sell out a fight unless they were fighting a great mexican boxer.But Pacman is today the most exciting boxer to watch,and sells PPV like DLH himself.Having Arum on his side helps.A promoter who knows how to sell Chavez Jr on PPV cant be ignored.
So, cubans first need to change their mentalities to be huge stars.Rigonedaux can win all his fights at Cordoba stylke,but that way he will never headline a FNF.He needs to go at Casey style.Must risk a bit more.Without giving up his skills.Be defensive and offensive-like Gamboa is doing lately.The Gamboa-solis fight was the perfect example:el coloradito didnt find gamboa the whole night who was moving and throwing non stop.And everybody was pleased with his performance.And those calling him a hyp job had to shove their tongues on their asses.
Rigo can adjust to Gamboa style,and maybe Lara too...i'm thinking of Jhonson as well(who is also with Castano and is improving a LOT his power),there are expectations about Ugas but i havent seen enough of him yet.

 

Jhonson should do that too, and I think Santana is a natural.
