    Fight Club OC returns on February 5th with WBC #4 ranked heavyweight Mike Perez (20-1-1, 12 KOs) facing an opponent to be named. The Roy Englebrecht Promotions card takes place at The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California. Perez has now joined the stable of elite trainer Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California.

    After a number of delays, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has changed the result of last September’s WBA interim heavyweight title fight between Luis Ortiz (21-0, 18 KOs) and Lateef Kayode (20-0, 16 KOs) to a no decision. Ortiz had scored a first round TKO in the bout. Ortiz, who tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid nandrolone after the fight, was fined 10% of his purse ($8000 + $450 testing fee), suspended for eight months from the fight date, random testing for one year, 15 hours of community service, and of course, with the result overturned he will most certainly lose his claim to the WBA’s interim bel

    Lightweight Derry Mathews has been handed a dream world title shot in his home city on March 6th at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Mathews will challenge WBA lightweight champion Richar Abril* for the crown

    Former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (27-5, 18 KOs) an unbeaten Sullivan Barrera (14-0, 9 KOs) and will face off in an eight round light heavyweight clash on the undercard of the Dargan-Luis card on January 30 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT. Lacy and Barrera were originally slated to fight last June, but Lacy pulled out the week of the fight.

    promoter Pepe Gomez mentioned a possible fight between WBC lightweight champion Jorge Linares (38-3, 25 KOs) and former world titleholder Yuriorkis Gamboa (24-1, 17 KOs) could land in Cancun, Mexico.

    WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KOs) is encouraged by reports that World Boxing Council (WBC) title-holder Leo Santa Cruz’ promoter, Oscar de la Hoya, believes a Rigondeaux-Santa Cruz unification fight has to happen. The 34-year-old Rigondeaux, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, has been restricted to Asia for his last two fights, subsequently in low-profile matches, due to the lack of desire by any world-class super bantamweight to challenge the Cuban star."
