I hope Ortiz does not fight Vidondo, who's a journeyman and a waste of time.

Fedosov would be the best option available and easier to make.

How about Helenius? that would be tremendous.

"As far as Luis Ortiz we are a couple of days from wrapping up a new opponent said Golden Boy Promotion matchmaker Robert Diaz.
We have gone through a long list, Jennings, Stiverne, Fedosov....
We have a guy now, we are waiting on a contract.
He obviously had to be rated in the top 15 by WBA."
Diaz said Ortiz will stay on the pay-per-view portion of the show.

(Vidondo is ratet number 15 by the WBA)

Ramon Luis Nicolas has been DQ twice in seven fights ! On August 29 he hit opponent Deangelo Curtis after knocking him down. Much like he did against Dakota Dawson in his pro debut. He is now 5-2.

Was told by @CarlMoretti they tried to get Rigo as opponent for V-Lom but 'they have no realistic understanding of the marketplace.' #boxing

Golden Boy Promotions, which promotes Ortiz, said it agreed to a deal with Stiverne promoter Don King and sent out a contract. Camille Estephan, Stiverne's manager, also said the deal was agreed to.

"Don King went back on his word," Estephan told ESPN.com. "He changed his mind and pulled out of the agreement. He claims that he has [another] fight in October for Stiverne."

Stiverne said he was fine with any bout, just as long as he was back in the ring soon for his first fight since losing his world title by one-sided decision to Deontay Wilder in January.

So when I saw King at the Floyd Mayweather-Andre Berto weigh-in last Friday at the MGM Grand, I asked him what happened to Ortiz-Stiverne?

King said, yes, he did agree to the fight. But he said when he received the contract from Golden Boy it specified it would be on HBO PPV. King said he agreed to the deal with the understanding it would be on HBO.

King said that he was willing to make the dangerous bout as long as there was wide HBO exposure for Stiverne. But once it was going to be on the undercard of a pay-per-view fight -- one that nobody expects to do huge numbers -- it didn't make sense. That, he said, is why the fight is not happening.

He said he has Stiverne lined up for another fight in October -- one that probably will be on Showtime's Oct. 24 card featuring featherweight titlist Gary Russell Jr.

Eric Gomez of Golden Boy disputed King's assertion.

"I know Dana Jamison [the top executive at King's company besides King] knew for a fact that the fight was HBO PPV because I spoke to her personally," Gomez said. "Of course, King knew."

Ortiz will remain on the card. Gomez said he is in the process of finalizing the opponent.

"Luis Ortiz is the real deal. Not only does he have tremendous power, but he moves extremely well for a man of his size," Golden Boy CEO Oscar De La Hoya said. "If he gets past Vidondo, and captures his first heavyweight title, fights against anyone in the division -- including Wladimir Klitschko -- will be on the table."

"We are progressing well for the WBC title eliminator between Eleider Alvarez and Isaac Chilemba," Michel told ESPN.com. "For Beterbiev, we are in discussion with Barrera's promoter also. We intend to have both light heavyweight title eliminators on the same event here in Canada but the problem seems that Barrera cannot travel to Canada."

If Barrera can get his paperwork in order for the trip, the proposed card would be in November

What do you think of the rest of the GGG-Lemieux undercard?
Dan Rafael, KING FIGHT FREAK (12:20 PM)

Love Gonzalez-Viloria. Like that Ortiz is on but not happy with the opponent. Tureano Johnson-O'Kane is fine by me. I enjoy watching Tureano fight so that's a decent opener. Would have been better had Stiverne fight been made with Ortiz. Ortiz camp took the fight, Stiverne promoter Don King accepted and then pulled out.
