    .

Franco had more than 400 amateur fights and was 2-2 in the amateur ranks against former teammate Yuriorkis Gamboa. He also has a winning record against another former teammate Erislandy Lara, a fast-rising junior middleweight.

He is managed by Henry Foster, who also manages SHOWTIME Super Six World Boxing Classic semifinalist Glen Johnson. “This will be his first 10-round fight, but we’ve always trained as if we’re fighting 10 rounds,” Foster said. “His conditioning won’t be a problem.”

Foster said he planned to retire from the sport when Johnson quit fighting, but Franco has given him a new lease on his career calling him “the best boxing talent I have ever encountered at this early of a stage.”

“The chance to manage Franco kept me in the game,” Foster added. “Luis has great ring generalship acquired through over 400 fights. He has hand speed equal to or better than anyone else in his weight class. He is extremely elusive and hits without getting hit in return. He has no fear and will fight any opponent. All together, he’s just the whole package. I feel Luis Franco will challenge for a world title in 2011, possibly by his 10th or 11th fight.”

All cubans in action friday won their fights. Franco and Hunter came out firing in a matchup for the vacant WBO NABO featherweight title. The first two rounds went to Franco easily with Hunter warned for a head butt and two low blows. Referee John Shorley stopped the fight at 2:34 of Round 8 after a third low blow by Hunter giving Franco the win by disqualification.

“It looks like he was looking for a way out,” said Franco, who won every round in the dominating win. “My body shots were just hurting him and he didn’t want to get knocked out.
The main event tripleheader saw light heavyweight Yordanis Despaigne (8-0, 4 KOs) batter feisty Mexican opponent Juan Jose Ruiz over 6 rounds to earn an easy unanimous decision victory.
The following bout between former Cuban Olympian Yudel Jhonson (9-0, 6 KO’s) and Dominican boxer Joseph de los Santos (4-7-3, 2 KO’s) proved to be the fight of the night.

The southpaw Jhonson dominated with savage straight left hands and uppercuts; one of which floored de los Santos in the final round. Jhonson’s precision and power provided him a unanimous decision victory for the Cuban side. (Judge’s scores were 59-54 and 60-53 twice
The grand finale ended in sudden and brutal fashion as Cuban cruiserweight Yunier Dorticos (10-0, 10 KO’s) added another KO to his undefeated streak.
Earlier action featured lightweight Puro Pairol (2-0-1, 1 KO) scoring his first professional knockout at 1:22 of the first round against Mexican Adrian Perez. Middleweight Phillip Penson (1-0) out boxed Metro-Dade policeman Jose “Hellboy” Aleman (0-1) to win a unanimous decision in the pro debut of both fighters. Cuban cruiserweight Yuniesky Gonzalez (1-0, 1 KO) obliterated pudgy opponent Roman Adorno (0-1) of Puerto Rico in just 53 seconds of the first round. Light heavyweight Vilier Quiñones (1-0, 1 KO) impressed in his pro debut by TKO victory over Abdellah Smith (1-1, 1 KO) 19 seconds after the opening bell. Cuban heavyweight Glendy Hernandez (3-0, 1 KO) notched a KO victory over Jayce Monroe (2-1, 1 KO) at 56 seconds into the third round.

According to b-o-x-i-n-g-s-c-e-n-e is Gamboa-Juanma put on hold another year because the want to build it up and maximize their potential earning.
A part of me says this is good ,there are exiting fights: John,Caballero,Franco, Hasegawa, Rojas,Garcia,Lindsay, and maybe some of the 122-boys

It's very clear than Arum is looking at Gamboa-Lopez as a post-Pacquiao superfight. Stupid really, if they fought today, the winner would be an instant star and they could do it again and again. But Gamboa fighting John and Lopez fighting Rojas is a mighthy risk that can f* up Arum's plans pretty much like Paul Williams did when he beat Margarito.

Luis Ortiz is taking on Francisco Alvarez 12(10)-1(1)-0... Man Luis Ortiz don't take no easy fights. This guy is the man! Can't wait to see him in action tomorrow night. . . Speaking of tough Cubans, Christopher De La Paz got a tough fight on Friday vs. Marcus Willis 6(2)-1(0) It will be televised on Telemundo I believe. De La Paz is a great fighter! Can't wait to see him in action as well!... Very exciting week for fans of the lesser popular Cubans!
