Erislandy Lara: "I'm down here in Miami, just resting with my family. I started training down here, I'm flying into Houston next week. We've got a fight, on what looks like January 14th, on Telefutura. It's to keep me busy, against a guy named Delray Raines [18-8]. We're looking at himxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxErislandry Lara: I think 2011 has a world championship. 100%, within the first six months, I should have a world title around my waist. Then we'll go to unifying and getting these chumps out there. Whether it's Anotonio Margarito [Editor's note: Margarito does not have a title] or Miguel Cotto, whoever it is. When we get the opportunity, we will do it. Like I said, a lot of these guys won't give me the opportunity, but I'm going to make them in 2011.

Lara - Raines? Poor Raines. Last Year he was nearly killed bei David Lemieux... An now comes a Olympic-Gold-Medall Winner from Cuba.

I had it with Solis, if he doesn't like boxing ain't like no more, you try to support this guy and he is not even training, he is not going to win a Belt against any of the Champs and I'll not give him any opportunity unless he lose a least 25lbs (if I was Don King).

Let me ask you Cubans a question - right now - Alexei Acosta Collado was getting in the ring with Rigondeaux how do you think it would fare?

A Second questions - How do you see Rigondeaux against Casey. A lot of Irish people would admit that Rigondeaux is the hot favourite to win this. That said, Casey is a threat if he gets close to Rigondeaux. I predict Rigo will win by UD by about 6-8 rounds.

    Sillakh-Despaigne collide March 4

Undefeated light heavyweight Ismayl “The Black Russian” Sillakh (14-0, 12 KOs) is scheduled to face fellow unbeaten Yordanis Despaigne (8-0, 4 KOs) in an attractive March 4 clash on ESPN2. Both Sillakh and Despaigne were amateur boxing stars. As an unpaid competitor, Sillakh won the U17 world championships in 2001, and took silver in the 2005 and 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships while Cuba’s Despaigne won a world amateur championships bronze medal

That's a great prospect showdown. Sillakh is the more talented, also more powerful and faster, but it'll be competitive and I think it's going to the cards.

Whoa! What a match up! Is this the first time a Cuban Defector from 2007 or later took a fight he wasn't the favorite? Damn that's awesome! I'm pulling for Despaigne all the way! If he Wins this I really think it'll put him at #2 behind Gamboa. He'll do something NONE of the other recent Cuban Defectors have done yet: Pull off an upset. They're always the favorite! Lets go Despaigne! I can't wait!

It seems to be I tough fight for him. The problem is that Despaigne doesn't seem to be in the best shape of his life, the contrary of Pascal and Dirrel who seem to be in the pinacle of their respective careers. Physically he is somehow soft looking, and his speed is already overthehill. Still he is an awesome contender I am backing him all the way. This guy Sillath is a huge LH with solid basics, but the superb technic and overall skills of Despaigne could make the difference here.

Ortiz,Fiz,Pedro Rodriguez and Despaigne all turned 30. They might have lost a little speed and was losing their position in the top 1-2-3 in Cuba but they seems to make good impression in pro ranks. Glendy Hernandez and Puro Pairol also past 30 but they may not have big expetations. They was not high ranked back in Cuba

I'd like to take a moment to give a little props to a Cuban coach: Jorge Rubio. He's got 4 good prospects right now: Antwone Smith, Angelo Santana, Azea Augustama, & Ed Paredes. 3 of the 4 he he's had since their Pro Debut. Ed he got after the first Joey fight. You can see the roll Ed's been on since then. . . Jorge's got a really good Cuban Amateur too. Gonna go Pro February 2011. . . Ok there was the little Amir Khan stint but he's done plenty to redeem himself since then imo.
