Yes Casamayor should stop. He was one of my favorites for many years .
The famous days for superfeather: Mayweather,Corrales,Freitas and Casamayor . Never seen so many class champions at the same time in one division

Ugas in action on the Montiel - Donaire undercard.
Once again he is matched against a (3-3) tomatocan .
Let the guy have something to work with, this is his 6. fight

Maybe they can't find better opponents for him, you never know, a few months back every fighter schedule to face an standout Cuban fighter were saying the same thing, "this is not the amateurs" and they will lose anyway, so wander if a guy with 10-0 or 15-1 record will want to face one of them.

Yes, totally right. Now the Cuban fighters are gaining much respect and I am very sure that they don't have an easy time trying to find tough opponents. Ugas is a beast, he is the complete package but he needs way better competition in order to develop fast, just like Gamboa. He should be fighting guys like 10-1 or 13-2 type of fighters and not the people that he is fighting! :good

Typical problem that all boxers go through once they get old, they just don't know when to quit. Casamayor has been past his prime since he fought Marquez around 3 years ago as he looked like an old man against the ghost Guerrero. Same thing happened to Cuban Gavilán, he ruined his great pro record just at the end of his career, 15 to 20 loses in his last years as a pro.

:good

One week before Cuban heavyweight Odlanier Solis challenges Vitali Klitschko for the heavyweight championship, the next Cuban heavyweight sensation Glendy Hernandez will headline “Badia Spices Friday Night Fights” presented by Pugilistic Promotions at the Magic City Casino in Miami.

“Glendy Hernandez is boxing’s best kept secret,” promoter Ramiro Ortiz said. “He’s a sensational prospect, and in the next few months the boxing world will know who he is.”

Hernandez (5-0, 2 KOs) will be fighting in the main event, for the first time in his career, on Friday March 11th. This 6’5”, 240 pound giant was an accomplished amateur in Cuba winning 220 out of 250 bouts, claiming two national titles, a silver medal in the Cardin Cup, and a bronze in the Playa Giron tournament.

As a professional, this native of Guantanamo has five victories, three of them under the Pugilistic Promotions banner. The first was a sensational knockout victory over previously unbeaten Jayce Monroe, the second a first round annihilation of Alberto Jimenez, and the third a convincing six round unanimous decision over the always durable Jerry Butler.

Hernandez’s manager Michael Luzbet believes his fighter isn’t far from the division’s big leagues.

“He’s an enormous talent,” Luzbet said. “He gets better every day, and he’s adapting to the pro game very well. When they ask me to describe Glendy, I always say he’s an talented fighter with a noble heart.
Big strong but lack punchingpower ? Not a high ranked heavy in Cuba

Ugas had to survive an early scare as a right hand in the first round stunned him.
Bring us back to the question about his chin. There been some talk about it earlier in this forum.

He was known for a chaky chin at the amateurs, some bum stunning him and going the distance isn't a very positive news.

Most of us got out first look at former Cuban amateur extraordinaire Yordenis Ugas, a former Amateur World Champion and Bronze Medalist at the 2008 Beijing Games. Ugas, now 6-0 (3 KOs), took a aimless six over Carlos Musquez, now 3-4-3. Ugas, 145, had far too much talent for Musquez, but that didn't stop him from being hurt in the first round from a Musquez shot. Ugas' reputation is of an uber-talented, but chinny fighter and that came to bear in the opening stanza. Ugas peppered Musquez, who showed swelling on his right eye, as well as a possible broken nose. Ugas has great anticipation, especially in the area of counterpunching, but if his chin can barely withstand Musquez, it might be an Achiles tendon that costs him in the future
