A new fight series is ready to kick-off on March 25 at the new Cosmopolitan Resort in Las Vegas. The debut card will feature several members of the next generation of undefeated Cuban boxing stars including light middleweight Erislandy Lara (15-0, 10 KOs) in the main event, supported by light middleweight Yudel Jhonson (9-0, 6 KOs), cruiserweight Yunier Dorticos (10-0, 10 KOs), super featherweight Rances Barthelemy (10-0, 8 KOs), and light heavyweight Vilier Quinones (2-0, 2 KOs) in separate bouts. Also scheduled to see action that night in separate bouts is undefeated lightweight prospect Hylon Williams Jr. (12-0, 3 KOs). All opponents will be announced shortly. The fights will take place inside the Chelsea Ballroom or at the Boulevard Pool overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. The first show will be televised on ESPN2.

The Japanese and Cubans are undeniably making noise in the professional ring. Superbly accomplished Cuban amateurs joined the pro ranks, some already picked up a world title, others are in line, whereas the Japanese have no less than 8 reigning world champions as we speak. Since many of their best share the same divisions, let's use our imagination and put together a best-of-five-fights blockbuster card!

    Main Event
Hozumi Hasegawa vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa - WBC, IBF, WBA FW titles

    Co-Feature
Toshiaki Nishioka vs. Guillermo Rigondeux - WBC, WBA interim SBW titles

    Undercard:
Takashi Uchiyama vs. Joel Casamayor - WBA SFW title (or at LW)
Akifumi Shimoda vs. Alexei Acosta - WBA SBW title
Takahiro Ao vs. Luis Franco - WBC SFW title

What would be the outcome of these showdowns and who would have the more wins at the end of the day? (Posted by Bigbone in another ESB-thread today)

Do you really think that the prospects want to face Lara? Of course not, they will wait until one has a belt and then if is no other choice, they will do it.
ps. Lara is supossed to fight trout.

This is professional boxing, so your opposition is as good as your money. $$$ is a great motivator for opponents to stop avoiding Lara but Golden Boy is not showing any serious cash to make major fights and that's the problem. Lara now has 4 straight 1st round KOs vs. lesser opponents than he beat more than a year ago, so it's about time to put him in the ring with the best.

Holy ****, Socarras KTFO that guy! Impressive stuff other than holding the head of the opponent before the combo (but the guy grabbed on Hairon's hands so we can call it even). Serious KO! If he's indeed 18, it's just a start of a long road, needs to be matched very often but very carefully, he won't pull a Gamboa.

Speaking of El Ciclon, he looked very comfortable receiving the key BTW, like a natural leader, cool and collected, he could very well end up helping and representing the local Cuban community after his pro career. Too bad him being a nice guy and a family man doesn't really come through when he fights. He has a good heart which is a welcomed contrast to his furious all-out style.

Can anyone talk a bit of Dorticos' potential? He's 24yo, 10-0 with 10KOs and 9 1st round stoppages. Is he matched for an impressive record or is he that good?
