I hope Lee is the future, as he seems to have it all.Andy has super boxing skill and power, hes still young and his biggest asset is his IRISHNESS. Only kidding about the Irishness, but it does help to market him.
Only problem in here is that Rubio won't fight Lee on June 7 - plus Lee's fight on that date won't make it to HBO...
I think Vera will ask some questions of Andy tonight although i do expect a Lee win.About him facing Pavlik soon i dont think Steward is being truthfull this time next year there will be a much awaited showdown between Lee and Pavlik.Remember the leonard hearns contest it was coming for 18 months or more so that evryone in the world was crying out for it thats all stewart is doing now. Lee is due to be on Pavliks next 3 undercards obviously that will be at least 12 months untill they are free to fight but untill then they must both keep winning and andy needs to step up and through top 20 guys.Vera is not in that company but is a good start.
Andy Lee has looked awfully bad ass in his fights so far, but IF you look close a few of those dudes were like Welter Weights and a few LMW's. Not world beaters at those levels either. Now don't get me wrong, Lee looked like a wrecking machine dispatching those dudes, but we need to see him in with some upper ranked true MW's to tell much better what the deal is.
I just looked at Box Rec, and they have Lee down for Vera tonight, an opponent TBA in April, and an opponent TBA in June. Any word on who those other two opponents might be? Boo
I guess they are still in negotiations with Eastman for the fight in April. Though I didn't hear anything about a possible opponent for June...
I've been pretty active on the board today, and have tried to make the point that the main reason I do not want to see Pavlik/Lee by years end is the huge disparity in their respective resumes. I suppose Eastman on Lee's resume would be roughly the equivalent of McKart on Pavlik's resume. If Pavlik had gone from McKart directly to Taylor, he probably would have lost. He needed those next 3 fights to be truly ready for JT. Who do you think Andy ought to fight to be really ready for Pavlik? Boo
The future of the division is the current champion Kelly "the ghost" Pavlik ... he's 25 ... has alot of work to do and will get better !! I don't see anyone in the division beating him ... his stiffest test would be Abraham and he's a chump. Lee's an up and comer ... Sturm is a bum Winky is in the twilight zone ... Pavlik is the future and is now !!

Lee may be better going the Felix Sturm, Giovanni Lorenzo route AFTER two more fights then see when the belts are.
I love your enthusiasm, but even though I am a huge Pavlik fan, I'm not going to write Lee off. He looks like the real thing, and until some one proves he's not, I'll assume he is. We don't know what he may be able to bring to the ring in 18 months. Boo
Man Lee is not beat Pavlik in a jabing contest, he's not going to back Pavlik up, Pavlik has a great chin so I don't see him getting knocked out, uh Kelly pushes around that big ass tire ... man when I seen that **** I didn't care how he fought I knew this guy was a force. Nah but I have 5 or 6 Pavlik fights on tape and I never seen someone so focused. He can bounce on his toes if needed ... Pavlik hasn't shown the world all he can do - but he's shown us enough to prove that he's the man. Once Kelly lays hands on Lee then Steward is going to be forced to stop the fight.
