Tbh if this is the case i think this should be picked up on. It's sterling work from Joe. People can knock the level of oppo some of his stable face but he's clearly got Crolla on the right track. Joe Murray's looking good.

He does very basic things in terms of styles. This is sign of a great coach. Coaches in all sports try over complicate what is very simple. Yes there's methods and things that are difficult to perfect but essentially Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit and Joe knows his fights don't possess Mayweather like defence so he makes them compact.

 

Couldn't agree more. Sadly he won't get that recognition but i'd love to see the BN run something on this. This is a remarkable run....i always presume this trainers have a few lesser fighters floating in gym who lose on undercard etc.

 

SKY have mentioned his incredible record in the past so i'm sure Ringside will have something on him soon.

Crolla has definitely improved under him.

I thought John Watson was probably the more versatile, more skilled out the two, like I mean he probably has a better Arsenal of punches in his locker, is a more precise puncher, but as you see, when a guy fights with as much passion as what Crolla did, keeps his D intact as he rolls foward, and keeps asking questions, and the guy he's pressing refuses to go with him when he ups the pace, he can bridge that gap in skill.

Make no mistake about it, John Watson couldn't handle the mental pressure Crolla was putting him under, as much as the physical pressure.

Fantastic record. Id love him to re-invigorate Paul Smith. Get him lean down to 160, fight to his strengths and make a run at that division. Some good fights for him there. And sparring with Macklin wont do him any harm
